If anyone didn't get the vinyl, I just copped the Lulu ALC Edition vinyl from www.alcrecords.com (black vinyl pre-order is still up if you want it) and they have a banner up saying Alfredo ALC Edition Coming Soon. So if anyone missed out on the Alfredo vinyl there will be a pre-order up on the basic black vinyl. Alternate cover and instrumentals will be on the upcoming vinyl. I'll keep the thread updated.

Picked up the vinyl on the weekend. Just the album no special addition.

Most of the Coli hates Gibbs but he really is on a 4 album high quality, beats and bars, run :whew:

Coli has this weird shyt where they hate public figures for doing the fukkery they always say they wish public figures would do.

Same shyt with dudes like Joel Embiid on The 'Seum. They want trash talk but then when Joel does it they get mad.

I don't remember when the flip happened. After Piñata he was really high praised on here. Same with Shadow of a Doubt, 2Wice, Freddie, and Fetti.

I feel like the switch happens when someone gets a lot of consistent praise on here year after year. Because once Bandana dropped I started seeing more threads and posts about him being overhyped. I think it was a reaction in the opposite direction after that album.

I think most of the "haters" don't even listen to him and they knew him after his release from jail and twitter jokes.

Strictly rapping is very hard to hate on Gibbs.

For me he's a complete package: bars, cool deep voice, content lyrics - not only the i got hella high and i sold 3434 keys after killing 2134 people, and the ear for beats is on another level.

Oh and @iseetrolledpeople I'd go a step farther than 4 album run. I don't think he's had a miss since Piñata.

  • Piñata = modern classic. 4.75 mics.
  • Shadow of a Doubt = dope mix of sample-based and trap production. Well rounded. Close to 4 mics, give or take a couple points.
  • Only Live 2wice = Solid 4 mics. very personal. Heavy subject matter and content.
  • Freddie = Most trap production and very cleanly done. Lot of versatility and humor. Some fire re-flips of classic samples. Almost 4 mics, give or take.
  • Fetti = Incredible collaboration album. Two very different emcees over a common producer they both work with. Peanu butter and jelly. Solid 4 mics. Also if anyone doesn't want to count it because it's a joint album, Freddie has 2 solo joints, more verses, and more hooks. It counts.
  • Bandana = I think Piñata is better but I know I'm in the minority. Majority rules. If Piñata is a modern classic, then Bandana sure as hell is.
  • Alfredo = Just a notch below Piñata and Bandana IMO, but it's right up there.
That's 7 albums of fire from 2014 to now. :leon:

Son deserves all his flowers, he dropped numerous acclaimed mixtapes AND albums. I dont mind the fukkery cause he at least backs it up with his work. I'm not even worried at all about how his next project with Al and Montana will sound either. And even then there's still a real chance we get an EP with either him and Con or Benny. Him and Conway already said they'd be willing to do it. :blessed:

I’m not worried about whatever the Alfredo sequel is called or Montana either.

I do hope we get that John gotti karate that got left off Bandana though

Ima be real. This album isn't nearly as great as Bandana to me. It felt too short
I also like Bandana more. Length is an issue. :dame: Bandana is 10 minutes longer (45 mins). I know the short album trend is in full swing, but 45 mins really is that sweet spot for a full length.

Also, I wish Gibbs did here what he did on Bandana; he let Madlib choose the beats for him to rap on. The only beat Alc pushed on Gibbs here was Skinny Suge. Gibbs picked the rest on his own.

:hubie: That's hardly a knock on Gibbs. Gibbs did pick good beats. But producers are producers for a reason, and I always like it when rappers let producers put the full plate together for the meal. Boldy James didn't pick any beats for Tea in China and it came out more cohesive than Alfredo or Lulu.

This is exactly how I feel. Alfredo is a good project but it feels like an EP.

Even just adding $5000 Ounces would've made it :banderas:

Its just funny to me seeing the hype and Grammy nominations now when Bandana was such a better project . But Gibbs is on a major now and looks like he's gonna get major looks

It absolutely feels like an EP. I have $500 Ounces on my playlist, because Gibbs said he wanted Ounces on there but eventually ended up giving it to Gunn. I have SNORT on there too.

I think they realized they fukked up not putting Bandana on there last year. 2019 was so much weaker than 2020 for music, and Bandana is a bit better than Alfredo. Hopefully this leads to bigger things for Gibbs regardless. Alc is also nominated as a producer for Written Testimony already, and has won Grammy's for Kendrick, Lil Wayne, and Linkin Park ). (:skip:).

I guess even if Gibbs doesn't win, it's already a good boost for the resume. I know most ppl don't think Alfredo will win, but I actually think it could. 2020 anything can happen. :manny:

Bro that $500 Ounces beat is so crazy just a couple more tracks like that would've put Alfredo on Bandana level:banderas:

I rememeber that Freshman 2010 class vividly. Seeing Nipsey get a Grammy nomination then Gibbs is unreal to me I feel like a proud dad watching his kids make it :dead:

It can really go to anybody on that list.. but even Gibbs having Grammy nominated next to his name is HUGE. He and Lambos story is inspiring

A: I need to learn more about Lambo. I don't hardly know anything except that his name is dropped all the time by Freddie. :jbhmm:

B: Still so tragic what happened to Nipsey :mjcry:

C: I need to listen to Royce's Allegory again. I liked it, but is it on your top 5 of the year? :ohhh:
