My "2 early" review.

I'm not gon' lie.

I slighty agree with the following:

I do hope there’s some drums. Not trying to be a downer. It’ll be dope regardless. The Boldy and Conway projects are almost all drums. When Gibbs links up with Madlib and Al though he doesn’t always jump at the loud drum joints. It’s Gibbs though. I’m sure it’ll be dope.

More drums would've been appreciated. But, we gettin' Freddie II at some point this year apparently so I can wait patiently.

As far as the tracks.

1. “1985”
First off, all hail MY comedic GOAT, the Mac mayne. :blessed:Secondly, the production on this is fuego. Regal shyt. I won’t lie. I kind of expected more variations of shyt like this sprinkled throughout the rest of this tape but that’s not to say I was disappointed or anything. Gibbs floated on this shyt as usual. Movie shyt right here.

2. “God Is Perfect”
Dope 2nd track. Kane was in and out of a few pockets on this one. Alc dialed it back and let Fred do what it do on this one.

3. “Scottie Beam”
Rappers love them some Judas lines, nikka. :lolbron: No wasted line from Gibbs on here, especially with recent events. Ross floated on this bytch like he was in the back of the Bach when he recorded it. Alc picked the right one for these 2. Nice, elegant rap.

4. “Look at Me”
I’m digging the transitions. Feel like Alc took a few cues from Lib’ on Bandana wit’ some of em (even tho he was always nice wit em his self in that regard). This that lucid dreams rap. Kind of in a “hazy” portion of the album but the next joint gon wake you up, we all know.

5. “Frank Lucas”
Nasty. Fred took Alc’s grimy production and put it in a body bag. Then Benny came in and put Fred’s bodybag in a BODYBAG. :scust: But nobody got bodied to me.

6. “Something to Rap About”
Not sure how I feel about this coming right after that murder crime scene we just witnessed on Track 5 but I guess we need a moment to breathe. Listen, I’m not the biggest Tyler fan aside from a feature here and there but he did enough to not make me wanna X his verse off. :manny:

7. “Baby shyt”
Kane & The Chemist on cruise control. How can you be mad at this one?

8. “Babies & Fools”
Smooth. Like I said before, not too familiar with Griselda’s work but both Conway and Benny did their thing on here. Sounded like da nikka Conway had a jawbreaker in his mouth tho, nh. He normally sound like this?

9. “Skinny Suge”
1 of dem. Yea. Dis 1 of my favs on here. I see why Alc call it his favorite. It’s “quiet” but you can intricacies in there. And I’ma sucka for some strings (see Track 1). :ohlawd:

10. “All Glass”
“Shot up ya escalade, bought em all Playstation 5” . :mjlol: They stuck the landing in a big way. Skinny Suge to this is a HEAVY transition. Kane & Alc just doing Xtra laps at this point.

Solid album. I don't really wanna get into whether it's better than Bandana or Fetti, but I will say, I got way more hype off Fetti off a 1st day listen. I mean, Location Remote and Willie Lloyd alone, God :picard:. But this is a tight, cohesive joint that requires no skips with some cinematic ass production from the chemist :wow:

I’m so tired of that silly shyt.

Just enjoy the music.
I feel you but you can;t knock people for having fun debating about verses when you get two heavyweights together for the first time. Hip-hop is competitive, and especially a track like Frank Lucas is a layup for inviting people to debate who had a better verse.

I know what you mean though.

See I don't even know who the hell that is. Just looked. is the project called Cold Water? If so, I'm on the first joint now and it sounds pretty damn good.

You may have put me onto someone new. Daps and rep.

Have you heard of Qthree? I just heard this joint last week and he's got a dope project from last year called The Struggle Continues.

Peace king, hope you enjoy. There's a few like minded cats that are dope too. MIKE, Navy Blue, Pink Siifu, Mavi, Akai Solo and Maxo

The last 4 bars after you think he's finished his verse is the cherry on top of that song

I'm torn. At first I thought so too, but it's really close. It's one of my favorite flows from Gibbs on the album because I like that he starts off without it before ramping up to it, and then going out into some more left field flows, and then backing down into the more traditional flow again. That shyt is measured and intense while sounding calm.

But Benny definitely may have caught him. I gotta sit with the album for longer.

I really really want at least an EP from Gibbs and Benny. They sound dope as fukk together.

No it's not. Benny caught a body.

Don't fall for that double time flow. Benny out barred him.

This is going in my top 10 of 2020, no question. :wow:

Alchemist is seriously in his zone lately. Loving this and his last 2 projects with Boldy James. Freddie is as dope as ever but regarding these features, I gotta keep it a buck...dude's nice, just don't put him beside another rapper because he might get washed. An impeccable flow can only carry you so far.

Still, great project right here.

Gibbs is in that Kendrick category where their flow carries their verses more than the lyrics. When you're rapping fast sometimes it doesn't hold up to someone like Benny who takes his time to make every line hit.
