God Is Perfect is astonishing. This is a beat Eminem would have spazzed on back in the days of Eminem Show. The piano, the swing of those drums with the doubled up snare and ominous bits and pieces mixed in..
I agree and at the same time in 2020 I'm so happy the beat didn't get wasted on Em

I wouldnt be shocked if Freddie ends up top 10 when its all said and done. He making pinnacle level gangsta rap in a era where its not common
And manages to make it palatable for mainstream fans in a way that Griselda (sorry fellas) isn’t able to do. His sense of humor and charisma off the mic really helps sell it too.

Breh one of my favorites. Everything hes dropped since Pinata has been 9/10 minimum quality. Even his side joans like the one with Currensy was amazing. Willie Lloyd>>>>

For the few in the thread that talk about Freddie Gibbs and how it difficult to get into....as far as his voice . Keep in mind by hip hop principles he has dope voice(PAUSE this while convo) . One of the many factors that plays into being a dope MC is your voice . NAS has a dope voice ...biggie has a dope voice .... Ghostface has a dope voice ....Tupac has a dope voice ....KRIT has a dope voice .... Scarface does as well. Jay z dosent he actually says this in the book on his lyrics i forgot the name of it ... but he said biggie had the better voice as well as nas . Its amazing how the hip hop "tenet's" are often forgotten are the goal post is moved depending on what artist we talk about like Kendrick Lamar voice is in between on GKMC he sounds like an narrator but on TPABF he voice meshes well with the production on that album. Voice and breath control can't be over looked if you want to be a great MC if you don't have a great voice lyric have to be on par as well as flows and beat selection.

So I listened one more time and im really not feeling this any more than i did

Y'all really feeling Alc's beats that much?? I know he a legend but they feel really light to me....like maybe a slightly better version of the meh beats Daringer be doing.

I honestly feel like he coulda did better....not saying production is bad but it's not standout to me at all. Maybe i'm just let down because i had higher expectations.

This is a 7/10 overall....

And again I'm a huge Gibbs fan...so this isnt on some hating shyt...i just gotta be real....i think sometimes we let an artist's history cloud judgment. Like Gibbs has dropped so much heat recently that it's unfathomable that he might have dropped something that's just slightly above average.

Also we kinda starved for content so it's like what Chris Rock said about giving a starving man a cracker....

Am I the only one that is confused by the first part of Benny's verse? I can't tell what part of the beat he's trying to flow to :jbhmm:

The second half of the verse is amazing though, and he's definitely on beat :blessed:

gibbs is good, even great at times

but the star here is Alch period

I want a jayz alch album it would be a classic:banderas:
I'm a big Gibbs fan so obviously I'm biased, but I kinda think Gibbs is the star here but that's why I like it. As big of a producer head I am, I like when the emcee is the star of the show and the producer doesn't outshine them.

That was always my one lingering issue with most of Al's 2010 projects. Many of the emcees he did them with weren't the best rhymers. I thought Prodigy really stood out above the rest with Albert Einstein and obviously Spitta isn't the most elite emcee but he commanded on Covert Coup.

But these past 3 albums this year Alc has done with Boldy James (version 2.0), Conway, and now especially with Gibbs? I think this is his best year ever, and I think he's doing a great job of standing out without overly outshining the rappers.

Different ears :manny: don’t trip off whether or not we feeling it. I don’t mean that in a “fukk you” type of way if it came off like that :russ:

It's definitely a bit different. To me it sounded like he was trying to land on the up beats (1 and 3) instead of the down beats (2 and 4). Benny used to get some light criticism (after Tana Talk 3 in 2018) for rapping so heavily right on top of the drums, and having so much of a similar flow on every joint, and he's been diversifying his flows a bit from 2019 to now. I thought it was dope that he found a unique pocket for this joint.
