Yall need to come to terms with both of these nikkas having flaws :dead:

Gibbs has a better flow but for the past few years/projects, he ain't been doing shyt with it. He regressed something terrible on Alfredo for the most part but the beats kept people listening.

Benny for the most part has one flow/cadence. I've said this before, he rhymes like those internet emcees that would highlight their multisyllabic rhyme at the end of every bar. He just had dope enough bars to make people overlook that...until he got shot, then he started getting kind of regular. That, and to be honest...a lot of people are suffering from fatigue. TT4 is actually the best project he's put out in a minute but a lot of ya'll just got over him, hence some backlash.

Real spit :hubie:

Gibbs was this good or better 10 years ago with a catalog 100s of tracks deep already. If you naturally assumed he'd get even better, he might be in that conversation. Gibbs was already solidified when Pinata dropped (2014) and now its 2022 and he's still rapping.

People don't realize this fool got the same amount of tracks as Wayne :dahell:

He didn't used to be on this super vice lord, cocaine kingpin shyt either. Dude was relatable. How did he switch his backstory when he already been out the streets? :dead:

I mean if you posted those 2 songs to showcase his technical prowess, the shyt still sound average to me.

But I'm a 41 year old brooklyn nicca,I would also listen to Rockness Monsta and Fame from M.O.P. anyday before freddie gibbs.

Now we are getting to the real agenda here:whoo:

Lowkey if you would have said Sean P (:ohlawd: rip) . It would have slipped by me, and cosigned. Its all good though, rep your set.

I would have agreed with this x years ago, but shortly after getting out of jail Gibbs went so far right with the performative gangster rap shyt that he's becoming a caricature to me. He still makes good music, I still listen to Alfredo etc. But overall the content just isn't there like it was on his earlier stuff to me. I also feel like even before jail his flow started getting sloppy and slurring together. IMO it started on Shadow Of A Doubt, so 2015.

That last track on You Only Live 2wice, Homesick, felt like the end of the real Gibbs. The vulnerability on that track, the dedication to his baby mama, the phone call from his uncle, etc. After that breh lost his family fukking with strippers and went full blown "super nikka to impress the white boys" IMO. That's not to say he hasn't done personal tracks since then. But there's a clear difference to me now.

Yup. And my theory, which I cannot prove so it's just an opinion/thought, is that the homie tension he spoke about in Homesick led to him leaving those street (ESGN) guys and getting involved with new street guys. And all that negative energy and the process of financing that shyt (security, gang shyt, etc) has him going all out with the antics and gangsta shyt. None of these rappers are out here rolling solo, I get that everyone has crews and security is just the reality of things. Kendrick for instance is surrounded by real gang dudes who protect him...but that's not his energy nor is he trying to impress them, nor is he getting extorted.

I doubt Benny and them are getting extorted either, it's just their Buffalo homies protecting them. I'm just saying when you aren't truly from that life, truly from that city...you become food. And I think that's where Gibbs is right now. Again can't prove any of this, just my views.

I said he had personal tracks after that album. I'm saying he's made fewer personal tracks than he used to and has gone full blown super thug. Trying to keep up with shyt like Griselda, IMO. But those guys really did what they rapped about and Gibbs is...well, the son of a cop, whose brother is literally a doctor. This dude wasn't outgunning cops or any of the other shyt he raps about. Which makes this sadder and perhaps more dangerous because he's prob involved in some gang shyt now, with whoever is protecting/extorting him.
How many times you gonna be wrong in one thread....god damn. :gucci:

"Lay It Down" came out damn near 10 years ago:

"Stra8 Killa, No Killa" came out 12 years ago and he's talking about his set, shooting people, and slanging dope:

He has literally a handful of introspective songs and you cats are acting like he's Common Sense.:mjlol:

You had a good point saying he's making less personal songs now....but went all the way left, especially with the Griselda comment.
He was rapping about street shyt before anyone knew who Griselda was, how could any career moves he's making be reactionary? :dwillhuh:

Like I said, it's glaringly obvious who got into him post-Madlib.

A guy on here knows his family, he said Gibbs doesn't exaggerate any more or less than any other rapper.
But, respectfully, I don't even care about all that. I told cats like 5 page ago keep it music and now people are claiming he went super thug after he got out of jail. :gucci::mjlol:

For better or worse, "Lay It Down" is the text book definition of super thug.

Da truth of da matter is, da Gibbs heel turn came on this site when he started goin' back and forth with Akademiks. Seein' as how some of y'all absolutely LOVE and adore some AK so sides were picked. He hasn't been well liked ever since. His social media antics didn't make it any better yet those same antics are tolerated and egged on when it comes to others. In years past, there were numerous threads giving him critical acclaim.

That's definitely part of it, but a lot of the animosity towards Gibbs comes from the fact that he's a huge 50 Cent fan, and modeled a lot of his earlier career after 50 style antics.

He dissed Wayne, Ross, Jim Jones, LL, etc. so their respective fan bases had issues with him through out the years.
Which I get, but I don't care about all that. I don't know none of these rappers. :hubie:
