Gibbs is in the studio with Just Blaze today. Also has some music with Pete Rock coming out. Plus more Madlib (obviously) and Alc.

This is probably AOTY for me.

I was still rocking with Piñata heavy when they announced this album was on the way, so I was hype. Both are dope, so I can't say which one I like better yet. But I dig the soulful vibe of Bandana, and the chemistry on this album is slightly tighter. Gibbs said they sat in the studio for mixes and ideas on it, so you can tell it wasn't just about emailing tracks back and forth. And Madlib said he made all of these tracks on a damn iPad. Dude is genius on the beats! Mad underrated.

Apparently, yeah.

Which I don't have....but a snippet of the interview was up on Facebook and he mentioned he's working with those producers.

Most of the features on Pinata were recorded separately and emailed in. It's pretty obvious too if you listen knowing that. Most if not all of the features are the final verse of the song (like they just tacked them on the end), and on some of them the mix sounds different than Gibbs' part.

I'd add Earl's verse on Robes to your list, but other than that I agree that most of the features could've been left off.
Domo and Earl's verse are good.
Ab's souls verse is :russell:

Does madlib put skits on these beats after the fact or do the artist hear these skits before recording their verse to the track?

How does that differ from the regular version exactly?
Doom said in a interview about madvillain that he wrote around the beats so its probably already there.I think the song he was talkin about was americas most blunted. Maybe it depends on the beat.

Fake Names, now that's how you do a song with two beats on one track.

A lot of artist try that shyt and some times I'm like why can't they just make the second one into a longer song or this didn't need to be one the same track. For instance on Drake's Furthest Thing song, I always thought the second beat should have been it's own track and he should have put another verse on that beat. He wasted that beat!

Pinata is a great album but the features are awful (except scarface, Rae and bj)
I disagree, I thought they were perfect.

I mean you got Earl, Meechy Darco, Ab-Soul with Polyster The Saint on LA and I could go on and on. All of them are spitting on that shyt and contribute fire.

Danny Brown also delivered a dope verse, sure his delivery is hella animated and some people don't like the high-pitch voiced he raps in but I think it goes well with that track about being high. It fit that track perfectly imo.
