Them nikkas aint got no beef. Yall must really be bored pulling up old interviews to create a narrative of Gibbs having beef with Spitta. Yea he mentioned it a while back but it wasn't really anything. It aint like Curren$y even promos his own shyt like that. There was no roll out for Welcome To Jet Life Recording 2, or Collection Agency.
I didn’t “pull up” old anything. The Brackets video was from literally a couple weeks ago. Which is why I was surprised he’s STILL speaking on it unprovoked. Atleast check what I posted before u react.

Fam. Covert Coup changed shyt for Alchemist. He will say it himself. Curren$y put Gibbs down wit that. nikkas who checked for Alc. Didnt really check for Gibbs like that until after he showed out on Covert Coup. That’s facts fam. I’m not even gonna argue this shyt. It’s what it is. This the same nikka who shifted on Doom while benefitting off of his residual fans.
You said Gibbs wasn’t in the Alchemist lane before Covert Coup. This is a false statement. You clearly didn’t know they worked together before Covert Coup. Just take the L dude.

Now you’re saying Covert Coup changed things for Alch and while I agree it was a seminal album…Alch was already in that lane. The Gangrene album came out a year before lol, and that was a major shift. And if we keep it a buck the Evidence album that came out the same year as CC, which Alch produced much of, was more successful and also played a role. Alch had a huge year in 2011/2012.

Gibbs is an a$$hole and his behavior is probably going to doom him long term but let’s be real. The thing that took Gibbs to another level (beyond his noteworthy mixtapes) was Thuggin. Also in 2011. Piñata was one of the most anticipated albums on this forum for years before it dropped lol.

I don’t remember much work he did with Al before then. And that’s a testament to him not really being in that lane. U talking about a project that never even came out. Regardless. Gibbs profile within that community grew when he was on Covert Coup. Madlib was interested in him after that and everything. They did shyt together shorty after.

LE$, Trademark, Roddy and etc, breh dropped the ball with all of those cats, questions came up with the business and promotion, even bit LE$ album title.Fellas had something to say about that. As a boss/leader buddy isnt it, excellent at promoting himself though, which I understand given what happened to him. You mentioned promotion of the album in the OP so that signifies business to me :manny:

So they did a song and planned to do an EP (that later ended up becoming Alfredo) before Covert Coup, but Fred wasn’t in Alch’s lane? Come on man. Gibbs was bubbling hard at the time in the underground and took the next step in 2011 with Thuggin (and the Statik collab album). Then in 20212 he dropped Cold Day In Hell which was also noteworthy. He deserves dap for keeping his buzz up while waiting for Piñata to finally come out.

Madlib learned about Gibbs from Lambo, who worked at Stones Throw before becoming Gibbs’ manager. Again…this has nothing to do with Covert Coup. Why you’re trying to make one verse the origin story - while clearly not knowing anything about Gibbs - I don’t understand. A lot of us been talking about Gibbs for years here…

Fam. I know about Gibbs. What u think y’all was talking about Gibbs on here and I was blind? It ain’t about that. I know when he was bubbling too. I know what happened when the shyt fell thru with Jeezy. I have playlists I have made of Gibbs music since before Covert Coup dropped. But if u gonna sit here. And act like him bodying that verse on Covert Coup ain’t out him on a higher radar? When I PERSONALLY put him on to alotta people who otherwise barely even knew who he was before then. I don’t know what to tell u. Covert Coup dropped in Spring 2011 and this is when he just signed to Jeezy not long before that and his ascension was crazy from then. I didn’t say Covert Coup made Gibbs who he was. Which seems to be what u mistaking. But I’m saying him showing out on that shyt made people pay attention who otherwise wouldn’t have. Curren$y was an underground king in 2011.
