Fun fact about the immaculate reception, Art Rooney didn't even see it happen. He left to go the locker room.

In another odd twist that day, Rooney’s grandfather, Art Sr., the Steelers’ founder and then-owner, didn’t get to see the play that gave his team its first playoff victory after 40 years of futility.

Art Rooney Sr. made it a habit to greet the players in the locker room when they came off the field, win or lose, so he was on an elevator when Harris scored. When he stepped off the elevator, he heard the roar of the crowd and asked a security guard what happened, Gordon said. The man replied, “You won!”

RIP

Them old Steelers players from the 70s seemed like they were the perfect embodiment of the working class of Pittsburgh.

Still the shyttiest city I’ve ever been to though…Rip to the legend

I was just happy to talk about him on the page as a lover of football history.

Even my mom remembers him and Mean Joe Greene, first coming to this country when the Steelers dynasty started and they owned the 70s.

Those are officially retired. They have some more that are unofficially retired like Bradshaw, Mike Webster, Blount, etc
:ohhh:

I like it...so it REALLY mean something if you get it.

Above and beyond on and off the field.

Heck if Troy can't get it than who can .
