I met Franco in the early 90’s in my hometown Monroeville. A suburb of Piffsburgh

It was some kind of local business event. My dad was there and I tagged alone. Franco was one of the keynote speakers. Got to chop it up with him briefly and he was mad cool. He could have just brushed me aside but he gave a Young Gen his ear.

There are a LOT of Italians in Piffsburgh. They loved Franco.

Just yesterday I was marveling at how Franco still looks young while Bradshaw is looking decrepit
Rip to a Legend :sadcam:

I vaguely recall Jim Brown trash talking him something serious basically saying he could beat Franco in a head to head 40. Jim was around 50 and Franco in his 30s. I think ABC set the race up on prime time. Needless to say Franco smoked Jim’s loudmouth ass by like 15 yards. I always recall Franco being very dignified and respectful during the whole thing. Never met him but he seemed like a true gentleman despite being a legendary athlete. Godspeed to the man.

RIP. Right before the 50th Immaculate Reception anniversary too.

Damn I just heard someone mention how he played contributed to his good health post career

Jim Brown would get mad because Franco often ran out of bounds instead of fighting for more yards. Brown claimed he was going to make a comeback at 47 when Harris came close to Brown’s rushing record (Sweetness ended up breaking it).

But he still took thousands of hits over the years regardless. Some boxers and football players are more fortunate than others and their brains stay sharp despite all the trauma.
