Imigration was at the forefront, more french people are growing tired of rising imigrant numbers and are therefore moving to the right to stop it

the 2nd reason is the disdain centrist in france have for their leftwing (sounds famaliar)who now have two choices, either swallow their corporatist ghoul pride and form an alliance with the left or allow France to be ruled by the far right.

Knowing centrist (when push comes to shove, they lean more right than left) it would probably be the latter
