This will be shyt just like everything else they try to remake in the US. I dont get it why cant they just have the original show play in the US? Are Americans that fukking dumb that they cant understand a British accent? But they come out in droves when Brit cacs playing Moses and Ramses.

Same here. Like @MartyMcFly stated, if it's shyt we move on to something else if not well :krs:

Not all remakes or adaptations are bad.

Yeah I don't understand this logic at all breh. I really really don't. People act like a remake or reboot is going to magically erase the originals, like you can't buy them anymore or like someone will come to your house, yank them off your shelf and then

I don't like the idea of reboots, but my main problem is the idea of throwing money into an already existing idea when they can try and make something new.

Let's say the Luther reboot is cool, fine. But why have 2 versions of the same show (especially if both are in English, I get if it's an adaptation of a Belgian show...) when you could possibly have 2 completely separate and good shows.

I equate it (a little) to the CSI spinoffs. Why do the same show in different settings and say, "Hey, Neil Cross, Luther was great, what else you got?" instead of "Hey, Neil Cross, Luther was great, wanna do it again with Blair Underwwod this time?"

Hollywood has always been like that tho breh. This ain't nothing new. They've been remaking and repurposing ideas since before we were born. There are several adaptations of the Wizard of Oz before the one that we all remember. Same with zombie movies, same with alien movies, etc

This is from YOUR point of view though.

Gotta keep in mind vast majority of Americans haven't seen a single episode of Luther.

I completely get that, and it's cool, if I could get a job writing on the reboot I'd do it in a heartbeat, I'm just trying to figure out the process from a business standpoint. The things that the suits are trying have not, are not, and probably will not work, but they keep going back to them.

:yeshrug:

It is what it is.

Well on top of that, if Idris and the show's creator are on board then obviously they're in on the business too. Everyone wants to make money man

As someone who has no problem with remakes/reboots I understand others problems.

When I see a film thats being remade or based on a book, I go out of my way to watch the original or read the book. Because the original or book are most often better.

However a lot of people dont do that. They just watch the remake/adaption and if its crap they just write the whole thing off.

Peoples problem with it is if its crap then thats the only opinion some have of it. Instead of experiencing something great their only opinion is of this shytty remake and the name is tarnished.

But like I said, they dont bother me because for me it always puts me onto the originals I had never seen.
