FOX Orders Pilot for Luther Remake

Creator Neil Cross and star Idris Elba attached as producers.

18 NOV 2014 BY MATT FOWLER

It would appear that FOX's modestly-received Broadchurch remake, Gracepoint (starring original series star David Tennant), hasn't stopped the network from considering more U.K. adaptations.

Next on the American reboot slate is Neil Cross' gritty crime series Luther, which starred Idris Elba as an intense Police Inspector who often went above and beyond to catch maniacs. Variety reports that FOX has given a "hefty put-pilot commitment" to a new Luther adaptation, which creator Cross is helping with.

Cross will pen the pilot script and executive produce, with series star Idris Elba also attached as an executive producer as well. As of now, Elba is not expected to reprise his leading role for the FOX remake like Tennant did with Gracepoint.

There had been no plans to continue the BBC Luther series past the initial three seasons, though Cross has been vocal at certain points about wanting to make a Luther movie. Cross most recently brought the pirate drama Crossbones to NBC, which he created, wrote, and produced.

Can't they just show the original BBC series in america? US remakes rarely work
realistically if they're going to work on the project anyway, they should air the BBC series in the US in the quicker, legnthier fashion US shows work, and have a new season ready when those have aired

This will be shyt just like everything else they try to remake in the US. I dont get it why cant they just have the original show play in the US? Are Americans that fukking dumb that they cant understand a British accent? But they come out in droves when Brit cacs playing Moses and Ramses.

I don't even know why you asked that when you know the answer is yes.

I don't consider myself "cultured" or worldly by any means but just interacting with people on a daily basis....the average person is dumb as a fukking box of rocks and not checking for anything outside of their comfort zone.
