Them nikkas wanna make money. You work for a salaried dev position or go on your own to make billions. This literally happens with any big game dev team.

You can't expect people to just fund your dreams like they have its a dream. Once the game is developed who know Microsoft Sony or somebody will come knocking
If you have these employees under your tent and they have an idea you should have first dibs on that. If they're quitting and going to get funding elsewhere to fund that idea you're losing out on your potential pipeline. Microsoft needs those internal ideas to transform into products they can put out.

At one point The Last of Us was such an idea from an internal Sony studio. Imagine if Sony said nope just keep making Uncharted.

Ok what was the last hit franchise to come from an internal Microsoft development team? Hell what was the last notable franchise at all to come from an internal team in general?

Sony's process has shown actual success. Sony has shown the ability to internally build some of the most successful IPs in gaming. Microsoft's cabinets are so bare they have to go out and purchase entire major publishers to make up for it.

Right y’all pretend games don’t exist when it doesn’t fit your narrative.

Sea of theives is one of the most successful new IPS of last gen. Has done far better on PC than any Sony game released so far and retains a large player base now years after release.

A new Idea from a studio that microsoft allowed to build and grow a very successful franchise :ohhh:
