Well y’all complaining about the reviewers don’t make sense,
The big games that score really well (outside of elden ring) are usually praised for their story and presentation.
When a reviewer says “TLOU story was so great I was literally shaking, laughing, crying, and shytting myself when it was over” Y’all post those tweets and reviews to co-sign how great the game was.
Those same reviewers(and even you stans admit it)say forespoken story/presentation is not that good. Then you act like they are just arbitrarily shytting on the game for no reason.
If a game with a good story deserves an 8-9. Then how is it “nitpicking” for a game with a bad story to get 6-7???
As someone that's put almost 5 hours into a game that's estimated to have a 15 hour story so 1/3 done the story here is very rough.
This black protagonist is written by a room of white people and she's an edgy disrespectful foul-mouthed criminal. Why couldn't she be a shy nerdy bookworm or a cheerful popular normal girl? Nothing about her backstory makes her endearing so they didn't have to go that route. Just had to be a walking cliché.
I'm supposed to believe such a person is fighting to get back home to their family of a cat that's probably lucky to live 10 more years, no parents, no relatives, a group of criminals looking to kill her that burned down the abandoned building she was squatting in? This is instead of embracing a world where some of the citizens embrace her as a heroic figure and she has a roof over her head provided for her and magic power?
I'm not too crazy about the gameplay either. Most of what I'm doing at this point involved shooting pebbles from my hands at enemies while running in circles around them and hitting an auto dodge button that does a canned dodge animation. Sometimes I use a vine to restrain them when it's charged or a shoot a large charged rock or use the rock as a shield. From what I understand you don't get the second power until about 7 hours into the game so damn near half way in. The enemies especially the bosses have large amounts of health and it's like you're hitting them with a pea shooter.
This is definitely a 6-7 game so far. It being mediocre doesn't make it bad but the reviews scored this right. Not worth the $70 I spent on it but kinda knew that going in. Problem is a whole host of people that haven't played it are citing the opinions of others and exaggerating its mediocre quality to be horrible.
