I don’t think a black character necessarily needs to be written by a black writer, but if the white writer does a bad job at it, it should be called out. And the solution is usually to hire a black writer.

With ghosts of sushima(spelling) they made a huge effort to consult Japanese people before after and during development. So when the game came out Japanese people appreciated the care that was put into it.

This is why we need more black game devs and more black writers in gaming, period. It’s pretty disappointing that the second game in years to feature a black lead character has white people writing for it, but thats really the gaming industry.

The problem isn't that there are so little Black writers that they couldn't find anyone. They probably didn't try. They can't even give a straight answer to the question of if there are Black writers on the game in the article.
