How many kids did they have? Any updates on them?
A son and daughter, don't know what the daughter does but the son works for Showtime, his name appears in the credits for Showtime Boxing and the broadcast crew offered their condolences last month during a telecast when his moms died.

Despite all the fukkery in nyc crime was on a downward spiral with him in all of his years as mayor. With Guilliani I guess the crime took a much deeper steep downwards. Still think Dunkins deserves more credit.

I’m kinda ehhh on whatever credit he deserves.

Koch was getting too damn comfy and loose with his mouthpiece after 3 damn terms and even CACs were tired of his act. Eventually you start to alienate people. He got elected at a terrible time in NY history (1978-79) and crack was just being born.

By 1989 dude wore out his welcome and that Yusuf shyt was basically the last straw.

Meanwhile CACs in Staten Island wanted to secede from the rest of the city :mjpls: and Koch said “hell no, and imma take y’all to court.” Probably not a good idea when he wound up losing the primary to Dinkins later on in 89. Dinkins wins and Staten Island tries to pull that shyt again in 93 and Mario Cuomo said “hell yeah” :mjpls:from Albany and Dinkins shot that shyt down.

Probably didn’t help him since it was are-election time and Rudy was coming back with a real battle plan and beat him.

Still, Dinkins was very middle of the road at a time when the city’s body count was crazy, crack was everywhere and people were broke. Koch’s mess was his mess now and he felt like more of a symbolic Mayor than someone who had a solid game plan in place. He’d been putting in work in the city since the 70s but not really getting a lot done. 1989 was his time to change all of that and he didn’t.

What was Staten Island trying to be? A city? A suburb? New Jersey?

RIP I remember I met him on a class field trip in the late 90s he gave me an autograph. Dude lived a long and successful life, Sleep well
I met him too, in college.

It was a luncheon with like 10 ppl, all seated at a single table. I was one of two ny'ers and the only ados. At the end, when everybody was mingling, i introduced myself and, in bp shorthand, conveyed that i knew them white folks did him dirty. He pinched my cheeks and told me i reminded him of his daughter. :wow: White folks nearby overheard and felt some type of way, you could see it in they face. :lolbron:

RIP, sir. You did what you could. :ld:

Also, fukk koch and giuliani. :pacspit:
