his time in office as mayor was ehh at best but he managed to push past Koch at a time when both were trying to ride the Yusuf Hawkins wave. He rode it better because Koch was never gonna cross his base even with a high profile situation like that going on. Then he beat Rudy.
but there was so much wild shyt going on in the city with crime and drugs that Rudy came right back and beat him in the next one and sanitized his reputation when 9/11 happened.
Dinkins was around when there was just too much fukkery in NY and there was no way CACs (especially those on Staten Island) were going to bless him ah the polls.

Despite all the fukkery in nyc crime was on a downward spiral with him in all of his years as mayor. With Guilliani I guess the crime took a much deeper steep downwards. Still think Dunkins deserves more credit.
