How are the characters flimsy? One of the highlights of this film was the characters and their actors portrayals of them. Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo are all fantastic memorable characters. Even the classic characters brought back were done really well, Chewbacca for example, hell, they even made Stormtroopers feel like real humans and not just mindless drones. The story is standard and straight forward, because that is what the star wars franchise needed and had to do if they wanted to make this a good trilogy. Everything had to be setup with the future in mind. Just because some of you dipshyts can't enjoy a female protagonist doesn't mean everyone else can't either. I love Rey as a character and Daisy Ridley did a hell of a job. Most people really enjoyed this film which was why it reviewed so well with critics AND the audience.
The movie pulled a bait and switch. Finn was portrayed as the protagonist up until the last 3rd then suddenly it's Rey's film. She's also too perfect. She reeks of a bad fan fiction self-insertion style character. I swear if she's related to Luke or Obi-Wan I'll vomit.

This movie reviewed well because it played it safe. The only risk it took was Han at the end.

How long are you all going to complain about the marketing of the movie? Everyone knew Rey was the main protagonist

B- for me.

Rey was too perfect imo, that last battle was complete bullshyt

I can agree with that rating. I'm on the fence about Rey-- I thought having her pick up jedi mind tricks as quickly as she did and beating Kylo were both pretty far fetched. I'll let it slide if we begin to see more of her flaws come out in the next two movies. Luke stayed catching L's until becoming that dude in Return of the Jedi-- failure is an important part of the hero's journey, we gotta see them screw up and fall short before they begin to actually get it.

Finn was more interesting and would have made the better protagonist IMO. He felt like he had more of an "arc" and legitimate moral flaws he had to overcome by the end of the movie. Hopefully he doesn't stay nerfed... :mjcry:

B- is a pretty good grade for this movie.

(for reference: )
A New Hope: A (all-time classic movie and a great start to the series.)
Empire Strikes Back: A+ ( Need I say more?:banderas: )

Return of the Jedi: B+ (the only serious issues I had were the Ewoks and Boba Fett going out like a punk)
Phantom Menace: F (Podracing and Darth Maul are the only real redeeming factors IMO)

Attack of the Clones: F ( That love story :scust:)
Revenge of the Sith: C- (Palpatine was so blatantly obvious-- if ANYONE in that movie had used common sense for five minutes, it would have been a wrap)

@OrangeSodaStyle while the love story of AOTC or more so the dialogue between the 2 was cringeworthy, I can't agree with that rating.. Imo it set up pretty well the one thing people complained about Anakin on ROTS, when they say he turned to darkside in 5 minutes or something. The story wasn't a problem, the execution was. Same thing with all the prequels really. Like the scene where Anakin slaughters the sand people could've been by far more menacing and darker (and longer): the darker moments were executed better in The Clone Wars tv series which is "just" a cartoon

to think i watched it twice in theaters :snoop:

the only cool thing was they gave the stormtroopers personality

i always thought they were the coolest thing when i was a kid but they were just mindless drones

too bad fagg was the biggest p*ssy storm trooper and he became the second main character

I liked it. Matter of fact I'm watching the Blu-ray rip now.... :manny: just wished he made Finn the reluctant hero of the story....

Hopefully in part 8 his role is bigger and he comes back like cmdr sheppard. :ehh:

I still fukk with TFA a lot but I agree with the criticisms of Rey and Finn to some degree I feel Rey is obviously a student of Luke's or related there's a reason she sees the visions of the lightsabers past in Maz's diner. Finn I can see a lot of the criticisms a lot of brehs had with him in this but I this was his crash course 101 into the Star Wars world plus it helps that I keep in mind that he is a Stormtrooper dudes who tend to come off goofy and awkward and deadly and threatening in other situations. I actually liked his arc and Kylo's the most and in the next film he'll be a much more capable hero.
