Family this Internet talk I don't care if it gets heated or not. Its never major you say what you feel and vice versa then its done. I'm not mad at that and rather it be that way. Working for my dad and getting money anywhere aren't mutually exclusive. Just because I did that doesn't mean that's going on now and even if it was I still have my own stuff going on. Regarding the black stuff I guess where I live is the land of milk and honey too then. I don't know you but could it be the people you hang around? I've never been to StL but there has to be some kind of togetherness somewhere. If so that's rare cause I've never been in a city with a sizable black population where it wasn't some cats doing work together. Sad if that's the case.
I never said cats is gassing up the A just was trying to tell cats to have realistic expectations that's all. I guess y'all see that as gassing the A even though I said nothing bad about the place. I don't know what your into cause that simple shyt you mentioned about chicks, music, and shyt you can find that anywhere for the most part. Only thing I can tell you is to find the successful blacks in your city or close and find out how to link up with them if they are into what you are into. If not just branch out with other like minded people online, in person, etc. Its not easy but isn't as hard once you start either. Whatever you do I truly wish you the best regardless of the perception you might have based off of this.
I dont frequent the clubs spots much but what is wrong with them? I used to smash so many girls from Compound, Velvet Room, Gold Room, Tongue and Groove, Opera, Taboo 2, Cream and Mansion. Maybe its because Im handsome and have a fly condo in midtown.
BTW I wasnt trickin off on club hoes. Once they found out what I did for a living and where I lived they were down to come to the condo to go swimming and have drinks at the crib afterwards.

Believe it or not, alot of them bourgeois as hell. What i learned since when I first got here is that alot these people are "stunting backwards" and loathe in "hood benefits (not to be confused with welfare or anything relating to gov. assistance). Yes, many blacks are doing well but far more are doing HORRIBLE! I've met so many people struggling and I've met many who are doing well. All I'm saying is live here for more than 6 months. I still want to see these black owned banks and grocery stores that you guys mentioned.....its the best we got

Add to that the fact that in the vast majority of this country, white folks ain't just dying to put brothers and sistas on like all that either then you start to see the important of blk cities in general. Blk folks helping, supporting, networking with other blk folks to not only get money but to share knowledge and stand on our own economic base. It makes it easier for blk folks who generally come from nothing to achieve the real Black American Dream, to be prosperous as blacks without compromising our culture and as well as our individual identities.

Thank you fam but I don't think I have a myopic way of thinking at all. I think on here at times this place gets to "state property" ish get down or lay down regarding views. I see things a different way based of my experiences and those of people around me but I'm wrong and everybody else is right. That's weak to me we aren't a monolith but at times some of y'all want everybody to have the same damn views even though we might have lived completely different lives and or had different experiences. Let's be real that's not fair but as long as I'm not in majority with my views on a topic its cool for people to jump on me. Its cool cause that's life but sad at the same time esp from other blacks that we can't at minimum agree to disagree. I also never said I don't see the importance of black cities are y'all just playing a game of telephone? I'm of a belief that you can have success at various places y'all disagree cool but I've posited before cases of success in other cities. My point is if they can do it so can others but somehow it gets lost in the mob of cats wanting to just say I'm wrong.

It is.The thing about the south (outside of the major cities) is that racist cacs don't mind living in a city with a high black population as long as we "stay in our place".
at all the MAJORITY black towns in middle and south georgia where the black middle class is VERY slim, we have ZERO political power, and black businesses are almost nonexistant.

I live in one of these Middle Ga towns, and there is absolutely NOTHING for 18-24 yr old black person to do job wise. My brother moved back here after college, couldn't find anything he likes, he ended up moving to Vegas , got a job within a month pushing timeshares.
The only saving grace is we do have some blacks in power at the political level, but our school system is so horribly bad that all the people with money moving across county lines...

Philmonroe wrong in that you can get it poppin anywhere as easily as in ATL. The barriers have been knocked down for the most part. Plus the there's a larger population of black people who will support your belief.

Where I'm buying a house next yearOther than that, ATL is utopia for blacks. My mom lives in an all black neighborhood off Campbellton. I can literally drive in a 10 mile radius, run errands, and not see a white person all day. I'm dead serious. I didn't appreciate that until I left and came back.
