Yep. The d, mainly perimeter d, has been atrocious. It's the main reason Drummond had been in foul trouble the past few games and why we giving up all these open 3's.I think the billups signing was good. Mo is just trying to use him in the wrong way. The team needs a veteran presence on the bench, locker room and in clutch situations. Billups is a champion. He sucked/was injured for the Clippers. But there is an interview where Chris Paul says CB helped improve his game. If one of the best Point guards in the league can say that, imagine what the 2nd tier talent that Detroit has can/will say.
I think Bynum was the worse signing of the 2. I wish he was traded, and that Siva could get spot minutes.
I agree, but lets remember that GiGi and BJ were injured for the whole preseason and really the team has only played 3 games(?) full strength. Our defense sucks. everyone keeps harping on our offense, But we are consistently scoring 100 points. The only problem is our opponents are scoring 100 and some change. That is not Detroit Basketball... matter of fact, Its not winning basketball for any team. that and Mo seems to not know what he is doing at times.

The only reason I believe Singler and Billups are getting the minutes they are is because of Cheeks dumbass idea that he's a "veteran coach". Hey dumbass, instead of giving players entitlement minutes based on tenure, how bout you play nikkas that will give you a better chance of winning and keeping your job. I've never been a fan of Cheeks and didn't like the hire, but when I see teams like the Suns, Sixers, and Celtics getting the most from their inferior talent I really wonder why we can't seem to get the coaching hire right. Maybe it's to early for me to be so critical of Cheeks, but I feel like I've seen this movie over and over again and I'm tired of watching something that I know all the words to.
That's where I'm at too. We have the talent and the thought is over time it will gel and they will improve. So I haven't given up hope. But with Cheeks at the helm . Don't know how accountable he's gonna hold players, well at least the "veterans". His biggest achievement as a coach was helping a lil girl with the words to the national anthem. If we were gonna go with a retread coach I would have much rather went with McMillan than Cheeks.I share Your frustration, I guess the difference maker is we have the talent. We have the ability to score, And we been highly competitive in all games. We haven't had any of those things in the last 5 seasons. All of these things provide the optimism that the team will improve. They're fouling a lot too. We might own the paint, but all of our opponents have owned the charity stripe. I expect that to level out once Our rotations are settled. and everyone is accountable on defense.

Monroe d hasn't really been that bad this year. shyt was terrible before, but he been solid. Adams for the Thunder wasn't doing anything but eating off of dropoffs from the dribble penetration. Unlike Perk garbage ass, he can catch and finish in the paint. Now Smith, I don't know what that nikka doing out there. He still play like a big on d. Anybody drives and he collapses to help, just completely ignoring his man. Paul George got so many open 3's from this nikka just leaving him to help against the drive. I don't know if that's Cheeks philosophy to help against the penetration and give up 3's instead, but it look to me like he just freelancing out there. He gets lost way too easy.Drummond gonna stay in foul trouble cause he gotta do too much on defense, and josh smith is a bad defender at the 3. Greg Monroe defense
I'm trying not to talk about him so much because I know y'all are fond of him
But that Celtic game as soon Drummond went out the game that Celtic rookie just went to work on him and the thunder rookie.
So that make Drummond have to help Monroe and the terrible perimeter defenders and still rebound
Cheeks is trying to find his rotation and he need to get it together. Josh smith trying to play that Lebron free safety type of D but he ain't Lebron. Fukk outta here with that and guard yo man. Drummond is gonna watch the paint nikka.Monroe d hasn't really been that bad this year. shyt was terrible before, but he been solid. Detroit Pistons' Brandon Jennings vows to return to being a shoot-first PG
PORTLAND, ORE. — After indicating that he was going to try to become more of a facilitator, Detroit Pistons point guard Brandon Jennings basically said Monday that such a move isn’t playing to his strengths.
He made his comments after the Pistons’ third straight loss, a 109-103 decision against the Portland Trail Blazers. Jennings put up 24 shots in scoring a game-high 28 points, including nine of the Pistons’ last 11 in a furious rally that fell short.
Jennings said the shoot-first outlook has Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars’ blessing.
“That's one thing me and Joe talked about,” Jennings said. “That was my first problem in the beginning, when I came back, trying to please everybody, trying to make sure I was being a pass-first point guard instead of just playing basketball.
“But like tonight, I've just got to play basketball. If the shot's there, I'm going to take it. If not, then I'm going to pass it.”
It’s not surprising to hear that Dumars wants an attacking point guard. There is a school of thought in the NBA that pass-first point guards in the mode of Bob Cousy have gone the way of the peach basket. And evidence supports that notion, with Rajon Rondo the only elite point guard with a pass-first mentality. The best point guard, Chris Paul, is a hybrid.
But the Pistons’ strength is in the frontcourt, so you have to wonder whether Jennings’ approach could backfire.
“Yeah, I was OK with the shots,” Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks said Monday. “I don't think they were, like, forced shots. Sometimes, when you're down, you've got to try to get a quick shot. I liked the way Brandon played."

other than monroe, jennings is best scoring option we have. Running offense thru smith and drummond aint happening, so monroe and jennings need to be more aggressive

Golden state gonna bust our ass tonight.
I didn't mind losing to Memphis, Indiana and okc but Portland is more on our level so I was hoping for a win.
Monroe is a lot better offensively than I thought he would be. I thought all he could do was face up and try and beat his man off the dribble to the basket but he really has developed great post moves. He is like a ballerina down there with his spin post moves.
We can put the ball in the basket but we not going no where until we learn to defend. We can't score 110 every night. The pick and roll D is horrific. I don't know if that's from cheeks or them not having much time playing together. The big men don't show at all so the guard can penetrate and it's all down hill from there. There is no type of perimeter defense, nikkas are hitting threes all day. And surprisingly the last two games Drummond has been falling asleep and getting beat on stupid plays. He might need to get off vine and instagram and back focused.
Offensively I think we are fine. BJ is one of our most explosive players so I don't mind him and Monroe carrying us. Smith is actually alright when he is posting up the smaller forwards and penetrating and dishing for an easy assist or two. We still need outside shooting though, bad.
We may need to put in KCP more. Not because I believe he is the cure but because he was a top 10 pick so he should have enough skill to help us on D.
With all that said I think we will be fine. We got the short end of the stick having to play a lot of championship contenders right out the gate when we are still trying to learn how to play together but if we are still looking bad as a team on defense and sloppy on offense taking care of the ball at the end of Dec, then I'll start to worry.
