Burk had a great game but that doesn't make the KCP pick wrong. He's being all kinds of misused right now, and he's still managing to improve a great deal month to month. Burke wouldn't have solved our defensive flaws either, which one again were in full effect last night. A move has to be made. And realistically, Cheeks needs to be fired too, but thats not going to happen. It's clear that he isn't the guy.

Great article by Zach Lowe that talks about some of the same flaws with this team I pointed out a while ago:

Lol kcp is only gonna get better but trey won't. He settles for jumpers because teams play him to take the jumpshot and when the pg makes the correct pass his jumpshot should be open. He's not quick enough lol then why don't teams just crowd his jumpshot then since he's too slow to go to the rack and too short to finish right. :pachaha:

Trey is already a better playmaker than most if these score first point guards that everybody seems to love these days and he damn sure takes care of the ball better.

Burke was controlling the game yesterday in the first half without scoring big. His passing is what led to the ball movement, which led to the open jumpers.

MCW started with a bang but his jumpers is

Burke is a bad defender but he can get better as will his passing and decision and it's already :ohlawd:
To expand on this, he made McGary a possible lottery pick because he spoon fed him layups and open jumpers. Imagine what he woulda done with Drummond. Remember the jump he made between his freshman and sophomore season? I expect a similar jump in the pros next year. He's a winner.

Biggest x factor between Burke/Jennings/Knight/MCW(the only 4 realistic options at pg last summer) is Burke has the heart of a champion.

Jennings out here LEARNING to be a leader and passing point guard, Burke already has that in him.

I like Jennings thats my guy blah blah, but I ride for him mostly because hes the pg of my team and he has potential. i like KCP and understand the pick, but his attributes are found in a lot of 2nd tier nba players, you could get in a trade.

Burke/Knighot could have NEVER happened though.

I'd also venture to assume Burke tries harder on D than BJ
How much better with this team be with Burke being a floor general and kris Middleton out there shooting 45% from 3:jawalrus:

I led the get rid of Brandon knight train last year because he isn't a starting pg. He could be a good 6th man scoring off the pine.

I'm not shytting on kcp and hope he becomes a good player but he doesn't have the upside of Burke. Burke is gonna be a allstar.

It's ok that folks had doubts that he could perform in the pros but it's time to shut that shyt up. He out there ballin as a rookie. Rookies don't just fall off trees dropping 16 and 6 and playing as a pg. None of that he'll need a few years to learn to play the pg position.

The most impressive thing is the team's record with him. To get dropped into a 1-14 situation and then have that team playing .500 since he's been in the lineup is incredible. It's obviously not ALL him, but his impact has been undeniable. They might be a borderline playoff team if he wasn't injured before the season started and they were trying to tank. :leon:

Burke does what all good PGs do: puts his teammates in their natural roles and positions. I think everyone on that roster has improved since he came back from injury.

And the sad thing is, that kind of line is STILL better than KCP's on most nights.

I didn't post those #s as an indictment on Burke. I posted them because Him being on this team wouldn't change it much from the shyt show that it has become. instead of sadness when comparing the 2, the bright spot is Trey can't hold a candle to Pope on the defensive end. And defense is something that the Pistons need more than anything.

Does popes defense impact the team like a pass first pg would?
