#2 would make for the best team.
I like Dragic/Waiters/Prince George/Winslow/Whiteside more than I do Dragic/Hayward/Winslow/JJ/Whiteside. Hayward is very good, I just dont know how transformative he is. But if there's any staff that could maximize his skillset I imagine this is it.

Inspired by recent rumors lets get out on front see where the fans here stand. You have to choose one for your plan moving forward, what's it going to be:

(1) Keep #14 selection. Re-sign Waiters, JJ, and adding a vet like Rudy Gay. Re-evaluate the trade market at the ASB.

(2) Sign Hayward, retain JJ and add another vet player. (For arguments sake lets imagine there's no discount scenario here and Waiters takes offer with another team) and we keep our #14 selection.

(3) Trade for Prince George on draft night, a package that includes: our #14 selection, McThief, TJ, Winslow (or J-Rich in place of Winslow but not both). Again, we're being realistic here and assuming that Riley doesn't pull of a Dragic-esque fleece job and that we have to gut some quality pieces for the trade to work.

(4) Trading for Prince George on draft night (with aforementioned package #14, McThief, TJ, Winslow) and sign Hayward in free agency. Mind you in this scenario we would be capped out with a lineup of Dragic/Hayward/Prince George/JJ/Whiteside and minimum pickups for the next 3 years

As of today I feel #1 is most likely, but my plan would be #3 if and only if Winslow is not included in the package. We would also have enough money left over to give Waiters and JJ fair, competitive offers.

Giving up on Winslow so soon?

Signing Rudy Gay would impair Winslow's development. And Gay isn't worth it IMO. Winslow needs PT at his natural position (SF) and signing a quality FA at that position will complicate things.

Unlike many of you , I never saw the super star potential in Winslow but I do think he can be a very good number 3 option on a good team if and only if he can figure out this one part of the game where I feel he looks retarded in at times: scoring

Unless Riley can pull a deal where he gets Hayward or George it would be best to make keeping James Johnson a priority. I'm open to giving up Winslow for either Hayward or George, btw.

Hayward and George is a bit of pipe dream but I've learned not to question Riley's ability to pull major coups

:dahell: Im probably the last poster doing that. Gay is a stretch 4 in our offense it doesnt impact Winslow. And we wouldnt have to give him up for Hayward who can probably play the 2 as well.

I like James Johnson way better than I do Rudy Gay. Not even close. Gay is a far better scorer but JJs ball handling allows him to flourish in Spo's system

A few weeks ago, I said I didn't want to trade for PG because he might leave. fukk it, I changed my mind.

I agree with @Primetime21 . I would do #3 if Winslow is not involved in the trade.

Team could look like this. Still got some work to do to fill out that bench. Maybe the D-league will come through again.

Dragic/???/???
Waiters/Mcgruder/ Ellington
George/Winslow/???
JJ/Okaro/Haslem
Whiteside/???/???

I believe they can go over the cap to keep Babbit if they like his contributions.

Let JJ and Winslow do the dirty work on defense. I don't know what was going on in Indiana but PG should be scoring at least 27 ppg at this point in his career.

There's still some trade bait on the team if they want to make a move at the deadline.

I like JJ too, as much for the off the floor intangibles as what he brings on it. But if at all possible, why not both?

I'd be down for any option that lets us keep JJ and dion. The paul george thing sounds good but im not sure he wants to come to bron's old team to beat him but winning changes all.

The rudy gay option and long rumored history of talks with us and coming off an injury could be another high reward low risk type deal riley worked out with dion and JJ. not as low but maybe 3 yrs at 10 m with the third year being an player option for him etc. he's coming off that injury so his minutes would be limited and we have enough bodies that he can be kept under 27 min until he gets his wind back

When you have too many options at a single position it tends to render done players ineffective

#4. Go big or go home:whew: Bench would be paper thin which is scary bc we've had terrible luck with injuries the past few years, but with our elite scouting i'm confident we could find some cheap labor in the d-league who could contribute

i do think #1 is what's gonna ultimately end up happening, which i'm not mad at all. that 30-11 stretch to end the season was :whew:we had the same record over that stretch as the soon-to-be world champions :yeshrug:

@Captain_Crunch forgot to mention you, chime in. What plan you taking moving forward

Option 2 would be the most ideal, but am totally fine with any option. I think if this team wants to do anything, it's going to be on our depth. Aside from needing a go to offensive player, our depth will be the second biggest reason why our team competes.

Signing Hayward and JJ gives us a very good #2 option while keeping our depth. Sidenote, I think Blake should be our priority. Sure BG has injury issues, but he can score and create for others, also he's starting to shoot 3's.

If we have to give up so much money, depth, and a pick to acquire Hayward, then we shouldn't waste our time chasing a player who isn't a proven franchise player. There isn't anybody who we can get from the pool of free agents that can lead the team to a title. We have a 14th round pick to select a young PF. Put him on a rookie deal and develop him into an all-star. We should stick to the process of developing our young core, and pick up some decent pieces that are affordable.
