From what I read on this, it sounds like a freak accident. Jet engines on commercial crafts have a containment unit around them that is supposed to keep the parts from destroying the rest of the plane in the event of a failure.

Blade off testing - Wikipedia

I only looked it up because the CBS article I read mentioned that this is what happened today and specifically said it shouldn't have.

I have flown a few times and the times I have, seeing the oxygen mask fall down is one of my worst fears :merchant:

First off, RIP to the life taken in this horrific accident. That said, it could've been way worse so good job to the pilots for getting the plane down safely.

That said...v

Here we go again with the ignorant flying comments

Someone said southwest is cheap...:comeon:

Might wanna check those prices again, southwest is no longer a low cost carrier, this isn't the 90s. They are basically a legacy carrier now

Someone said southwest flies old planes:comeon:

Incorrect, there fleet averages just under 10 years now and getting younger as Boeing flows out there Max line of planes. Younger than say....United who is averaging 15years per bird

We still here that, 'That's why I dont fly spills...':comeon:

Avoid not only the safest form of transportation...but movement in general. Your more likely to get struck by lightning or fall off a ladder and die than die in a plane crash

But you nikkas continue your ignorance :sas2:
In the meantime, I'll be on the other side of the world, relaxing, with my thoughts:sas1:

i heard southwest was one of airlines that offered the cheapest flights. that was i needed to know to stay the fucck away from them. offering cheap flights usually mean they cut corners in a lot of places. also that the seats are hella tight and uncomfortable.

Yeah Southwest is my dad's favorite airline lol he only flies once or twice a year but...lol

You're right, no really, you're right. I'm 31 and on God I planned on getting over my fear and flying somewhere towards the west coast as a pinning gift to myself. Now I'm :mjcry:....the timing of this shyt couldn't be any worst for a "at times" superstitious kinda person :wow:

Hitting the MD for some anxiety meds for the flight :dame:
