Floyd Mayweather wants a fight with Manny Pacquiao more than ever, said Showtime Sports VP Stephen Espinoza. The fight is being targeted for a date of May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"Personally I've been involved in these negotiations continuously since the very first in 2009," Espinoza said. "I can say I'm not sure there's a point where I personally observed him wanting it more than over the last few months."

Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum said this week that his fighter has agreed to all terms dictated by the Mayweather camp and that all that stood in the way of the bout was the approval of Mayweather himself.

But Espinoza said there were still some issues to discuss.

"We're making meaningful progress but if we were running a race we would still have a ways to go," he said. "Everyone is trying to get to the finish line as soon as possible."

Espinoza confirmed there have been parallel talks between Showtime and HBO over how the fight would be televised, and that those talks were ongoing. Pacquiao is aligned with HBO, while Mayweather would be fighting for the fifth time in a six-fight deal with Showtime.

The two deals are intertwined, he said, but declined to talk about the details of either negotiation.

"We all mutually agreed we're not going to negotiate in the press," Espinoza said. "There's been some misinformation out there and in general all sides realize that the less said publicly the better."

Though there has long been tension between the two networks, it is unlikely that friction would hold up the fight. The plan would be for a joint pay-per-view broadcast like the one in 2002 when Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis met for the heavyweight title.

I felt like I had the energy to follow this hour-by-hour until the announcement. This right here made me fall back. :snoop:

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
lmao, because it doesn't work like that you moron

at the age of 30 nobody improves on speed or power, you are who you are, also going up one weight class will diminish your power
Pacquiao ALWAYS had amazing speed and power... this going up in weight theory you keep spewing doesn't apply to Pacquiao because he's stayed around the same weight since Superfeather.. You just said earlier that his night of the fight weight at Super feather was 147 right?? So by the time he was actually fighting at WW which is 147, why would his speed and power be diminished to a point where in order for him to be able to crack, he must be on roids... you have to take in account that Pacquiao isn't blowing up to 160-175 in between fights, so he doesn't have to drain himself like a Bradley/Broner/Garcia.. His power should be able to easily adjust to 140-147 since he doesn't have to drain. The only thing he ever had to worry about was people rehydrating 20lbs past the weight limit at fight night, and thats the problem he ran into when he fought Margrito even with the catchweight
broner don't even look the same at 140 he did at 135 lol,
Broner is a horrible example because je wasn't fighting hof champions like Pac was when he was at 135.. Broner was fighting Home Depot castodians and WalMart greeters. His most skilled opponennt to date is Pauly Malignaggi:mjlol:

never in the history in boxing has somebody enchanced their physicality at the age of 30
Pacquiao didn't really enhance his physicality. nikkas widely exaggerate his improvement once he left 135.. Nobody seems to take in account that Pacquiao became much more intelligent. His efficiency increased.. And its still increasing to this day... He threw more punches with a better percentage in his fight with algeiri than he did against Mosely and Marquez in their 2nd meeting.. Pacquiao's ring IQ increased tremendously. The fact that hes been able to stay at the top at 147 for so long os just a testament to his greatnness :umad:

Maidana transformed, but not his power or speed, just his technique, it's possible in that way to become a greater fighter
Pacquiao did the same thing
