Obviously, I’m not torn up about the game. It’s never fun to get blown out by the Cowboys, or let up 51 points to them, but they did what they were supposed to do against a team sitting their starters.
The 2021 Draft Class is looking very good right now. I can’t remember the last time so many Eagles rookies actually made impacts in their first year. Devonta Smith and Landon dikkerson were immediately (or almost immediately) established as starters, and Kenneth Gainwell, Milton Williams, and Tarron Jackson have all flashed at one point or another. Williams was all over the place against a very good offensive line.
If anyone wants to downplay Smith breaking DeSean Jackson’s rookie receiving record because he had a 17th game, then it should be noted that Smith broke DJax’s record on 20 less targets with a 2nd-year Jalen Hurts throwing him the ball (as opposed to a veteran Donovan McNabb).
Get Jalen Reagor and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside the fukk off my team, immediately.
Secondary is going to have to be a big area of focus in the offseason, because that DB depth looked
bad. I get that they were 2nd and 3rd-stringers, but so many breakdowns and miscommunications.
They need to find a spot on the roster for Jason Huntley.
I’m interested to see how Andre Dillard did. Aside from a false start, I honestly don’t remember hearing his name called all night, and he was against a pretty good defensive line. Mailata is clearly the starter at LT, but Dillard hasn’t looked too bad in his starts this season. Maybe the Eagles could get something for him after all.
