People keep bringing up ND's victories over bowl eligible teams. How many of teams are ranked? Oklahoma (11th) is ranked, Stanford (8th) is ranked and Michigan is still ranked (19th). Stanford is the lone top 10 victory.

Other bowl eligible teams they've beaten: (Purdue 6-6, Navy 7-4, Michigan St. 6-6, BYU 7-5, Miami 7-5)

Florida has wins over A&M (9th), LSU (7th), FSU (13th) and South Carolina (10th). Also Vandy who is 8-4.

Did you look at the cupcakes on ND's schedule (and how they struggled with them) and why are you leaving out their bowl victories (Oregon St., Hawaii, etc)? That goes a long way in proving that these teams can play.

You are inflating the B1G and ACC on name value.. you're not looking at the actual teams.

Fact is.. what team has beaten more top 15 teams than Florida? A&M, LSU, South Carolina and Florida St. ...all W's

I'm not comparing ND schedule's to FL's schedule, but comparing ND's schedule to '06 Boise St. I ddin't include bowl victories because the argument was being made as to why they deserved be in the title game, so those bowl games wouldn't have been played yet at that time. Boise St playing mediocore teams in the WAC doesn't compare to Notre Dame playing some mediocre teams from the Big 10/ACC/Pac 10. ND beat Stanford, Oklahoma, and Michigan all in the top 25 while Boise only beat Oregon St. Boise played 6 teams with .500 better records (5 from non-AQ conferences), while ND played 7 teams from AQ conferences (along with 7 win Navy and 7 win BYU)

Despite their records (7 wins), citing Navy and BYU as quality victories doesn't help an argument. We could run through what those teams actually "accomplished" this year but why bother? You and I both know those wins are nothing to write home about when you break down who they have beaten and while ND blew out Navy they struggled against BYU and Pitt and Purdue.. It's hard to hold that against them but it is odd to me how the supposed #1 team in the nation is going to triple overtime with Pitt.

I listed their bowl victories (Oregon St., Hawaii, etc) because it is more evidence that supports those teams being quality wins for Boise in '06, yet they were left out... which is fine... my point is that ND's resume isn't what people in here are making it out to be.

What point are you even trying to make here? Where are all the people saying ND had a tougher schedule than Florida? This thread is beyond pointless, you would think ND is a one loss team with the amount of bullshyt Gator fans are spewing.

Exactly. Most Gator heads know that loss to UGA killed them, especially the way they lost.

And let's not act like the Gators haven't had trash opponents outside the good ones. The SEC East is garbage outside of them, SC, and UGAG. The west is trash outside of Bama, LSU, and A&M. ND is undefeated and has beaten more bowl eligible squads than the Gators. If there is ONE Team Florida can't be mad at in this situation, it's the Irish. They deserve to be there.

Michigan was 8-4 in a down year for the B1G. USC was 7-5 and ND beat them without Barkley.

Stanford is ND's best win followed by OU.

Lets look at 2006 as an example. Boise crushed a 10-win Oregon St. team. They beat an 11-win Hawaii team. They won @ Utah. They won @ Nevada. Then they won against Oklahoma in the bowl game.

Is there that much of a difference between what Boise did and what ND did?

ND struggled with BYU, Purdue, triple OT with Pitt...

Yes, they went undefeated and they deserve to have a chance to play for the title but so did Boise. The only reason ND gets the shot and not Boise is because of past rep. That's it.

c'mon man, there really is no cmoparison with ND and Boise.

Hawaii wasn't playing anybody, Utah wasn't in the Pac 12 then.....Nevada didnt even have Kaepernick if I recall. Nobody respects that trick play win against us in the Fiesta Bowl either.

I'd make more of a case for a 1-loss Boise to play for the national title the year they beat Oregon and the next year they beat Georgia rather than that 2006 team.

It really just comes down to no losses.

If Bama, Oregon, K-State never lost, ND would be 4th out of that list.

But all those teams lost so ND is 1st.

Funny how we lost to UGA w/6 turnovers and then turn around and beat FSU while being aided by 6 turnovers.

We don't deserve to be in over ND; there's absolutely no case to be made. Argue resumes all we want, but we have a loss, didn't even win our division, and actually lost to a team who WON the very division we're in.

:whoa: .. breh.. You just listed six top ten teams. Yes, Georgia and Bama were able to avoid some of them but the only one out of the top ten teams that Florida did not play was Alabama. They played the other 4 and they also played FSU who is ranked 13th.

They went 4-1 vs. teams in the top 15 in the nation. Don't you think they are allowed to have a couple trash opponents with a schedule like that?

By "nobody" you mean you and good ol' JR?

Did you not read where i said that I honestly think ND vs Florida should be the matchup? ND is undefeated, the point is that you can't shyt on them and leave them out. One of the others has to go....Bama is the most suspect out of the top 4.

We got one loss and they dont. Their resume is better than Bama's & Georgia's tho
true. this is why we need a playoff.

i remember last year people didn't want bama in the bcs title game because they already played lsu and they didn't win their division.

i don't think the voters would put florida over the SEC champs.

and they shouldn't. if Bama wins, they'll have won the SEC and beaten the team that beat us. If UGA wins, they'll have beaten us this regular season so we don't have an argument either way.

If Florida has a better resume than Notre Dame, then FSU would have at least 5 Nat'l Titles right now considering all the amazing teams we had throughout the years whose only blemishes came at the hands of the Canes or Gators
