Let this be a lesson to all those pending Scott Walker/Ron DeSantis types who want to follow in their footsteps and emulate them. There's a ceiling to acting this way. You cannot win the presidency. Being Tucker Carlson's night pillow will leave you at midfield. You will fall short of your goal, should the presidency be it.

There's no conventional politician way (I don't count Trump) way in the 21st century of "trolling the libs" way to the WH. He saw Twitter and Right Wing radio as a microcosm of how people really were.

You can take the short road of pissing people off, making them angry just to get the national spotlight and own the libs and fundraise. You'll win reelection only to flame out early when people actually meet you when you seek national office, and your shelteredness and lack of people skills comes out.

Or you can put your head down, work hard, meet people, get some people skills and try to broaden your appeal for long-term success.

Say what you want about Chris Christie but the reason why he's doing somewhat decent right now is because he's always at least made an attempt to talk to people who thought differently from him.

It may not have always been successful but he never shied away from attempting to put his name on media that may not think like him but it's helped put him in this position. Folks in CNN, ABC etc know who he is.

At this rate Ron won't get a Fox role or Newsmax. He's gonna be Bobby Jindal status.

Not gonna end well.

A negative narrative is taking hold about his campaign — that it is bloated, is overconfident, lacks a clear strategy, etc. Pair that with preexisting negative impressions about the candidate himself (that he is combative, not personable, awkward in retail settings, etc.) and a press corps that is — let’s be honest — somewhat tired of Trump and remains fascinated by the Florida governor, and there are real hurdles ahead for DeSantis.

The good news for him, if we can call it that, is that narratives can change, and the six months between now and the Iowa caucuses provide ample time to turn things around. But that’s also a whole lot of time for new articles to be published about him and his campaign — and they may contain phrases altogether more damning than “cash crunch” and “private concerns.”

The horse race is just beginning. Politico is known for this. The expectations for desantis upcoming interview will be set so artificially low that assuming he doesn't take a shyt on his seat and throw it at Tapper, the politico's of the world are going to report it as "refreshing" or a sign of a "maturing campaign" blah blah blah.

So you’re claiming that you were fooled now?
