Naw this isn't on the kids. I'll say it again. This is on the school systems. If one specific group is failing, it tells me the schools are failing that group of kids. And instead of the school system getting their shyt together and figuring what, and where they can improve, teachers are blaming kids. Basically saying, "well we taught you, so it's not our fault". But it is. It's the fault of everything teacher who came before you and was too lazy, or stressed to actually educate these kids. Now the teachers are at risk of losing funding or whatever, and they want to blame kids... Naw, the whole system failed these children. Probably the generation before as well...
everything?

I've lived in Florida, Miami to be specific, all my life — did Head Start then K to 12 in public school

As long as I could remember, we had the FCAT, I always hated the days leading to it because we had to block out too much time "practicing" for it, we'd literally sit there and do nothing while our teacher repeated the same proctoring script for hours, shyt was torture

For all the people always blaming the parents...

My parents moved around a lot when i was growing up and as a result i attended several elementary schools as a child.
i was the same student with the same parenting at each and every school and yet my grades varied tremendously depending on the institution.

At one school i was a straight A student taking regular classes
At another school i was a gifted student taking advanced courses
At yet another school i was an average student whose grades didn't stand out
and at one school i was actually a below average student. (teachers there didn't give af and the budget for books, trips, programs and supplies was terrible)

The schools, the teachers, and the way they teach/grade etc absolutely make all the difference.

This old bullshyt over and over again. Teach what is supposed to be taught and the standardized tests will show that. They too fukking money hungry the whole fukking curriculum is slanted towards testing......

Standardized Testing is inhumane. It should be thoroughly eliminated and replaced by something similar to the Scandinavian education system that builds strength towards students particular interests.

All these standardized testing does, is provoke school shootings and deep hatred of the foundation of learning.

On a personal level, you either wanna learn or you find it to be a chore.

There's things a person who doesn't straight up enjoy learning can do. Study being the main thing. In 2024 you can look up a vid of someone explaining the subject at every level of complexity. In case your teacher isn't connecting with you for whatever reason.

You can't really force someone to learn. Learning takes an effort. Maybe you can threaten them physically or with punishment. Or, even better, Incentivize them.

But think about it. The incentive is built in. If you do really well with education, you tend to have more success in life.
