LaVar's been generating millions of dollars worth of free advertising just in the past few days.

How many companies get a 2 minutes spot in the middle of Sportscaster? Competing with national healthcare as the top trending topic on Twitter? Every media outlet repeatedly showing the product? That's crazy.

THE DUDE IS MAKING A POWER MOVE.

And people are noticing.

Why is that a problem? I've been essentially donating money to Nike / LV/ Gucci my whole life. Why not see someone I fukk with on the same level as Phil Knight?

If Phil Knight passed me on the street I doubt he would speak to me. I know I can have a drink with OG Ball Ru if I see him at a day party this month. And I'm sure I will.

:bronknight:
If you feel you are donating money to the companies you do business with, you are making poor consumer choices. If I purchase from a company, it's because it benefits me. I am my own brand. Giving a company money when they aren't providing me with quality, value, or convenience? Why would I do that?

This idea is lost on people when it comes to international business. Like the people who say buy american cars, what about the Americans who work for that foreign brand? What about the increases in quality and value you'll see in your favorite products if the company is forced to compete for your business?

Not that you bought any BBB garbage, but paying $500 to help Lavar instead of paying $100 to help yourself have shoes and then have $400 leftover for your own black family? Do the math.

Gucci is telling people that in so many words.

Its not his fault you feel a way about someone actually saying whats plainly obvious
Exactly this was my point to him when he posted that to me. I guess all these luxury brands (which I have no problem with either) are cool because they don't actually say it but its already known. That's what I don't get with some with that logic dude kicking.

That would make sense financially but I've crossed into the well off category a while ago. You are making valid points but money is not an issue in my personal life (knock on wood). So I am presented with my reality, I shop at Saks and Neiman Marcus and have been for a long time. Why would i feel comfortable buying Chanel sneakers that are strictly for fashion purposes and not feel comfortable supporting #BBB.

If given the option between two pair of $500 sneakers, of the same quality and aestic I simply choose to support #BBB at this time (or in the future).

There are like 100 legacy brands that charge a lot more than that, I don't understand why everyone is so opposed to 1 black owned brand catering to the same demographic.

It's called Big Baller for a reason. And the name Big Baller is no worse than Y3 or Gucci.

Who the hell is Louis Vuitton, did he even speak to black people? I know Versace was an ass pirate of South Beach. And What the fukk is a Gucci?:cacravenpls:

Why should we care about Lavar's personal life if we don't care about the personal life of the Legacy brands?

And my point from the beginning is that these are not $500 shoes. The comparisons to high end brands like Gucci and LV are insulting.

If Nike charged $500 for the Kobe's that Lavar copied, I would have ripped them for it too. I think Nike under delivers and really don't care for their brand either.

If you have money to burn and want to help people, I really don't see how BBB is the best you can come up with.

So present some alternatives.

I can post my shoe closet and show you a lot of money spent on those legacy brands. I have on Chanel sneakers that cost a bunch more than #BBB as I type, they provide no extra comfort or wow factor, they don't get me from my upstairs to the pool faster and the leather isnt made from angel calf skin. I have had incredible items from the legacy brands and had a few I feel weren't worth the money. Like anything else in life something is only worth what someone will pay for it.

In middle school I spent $500 dollars on crewnecks with Micky Mouse and Goofy on them because they were Iceberg. fukking cartoon characters on sweaters. were they worth it, hell no. I don't blame them for getting it, because if someone will pay for it then it would be stupid not to sell it.

I just see a lot of strawman arguments being made and I don't understand why the negativity. It seems to be a pattern at this point whenever someone introduces an idea that shakes the established norm that people immediately attack them and attempt to discredit what they are doing.

Just imagine if Apple listened to all the naysayers when they said they would enter the mobile phone market, we would never have FaceTime and the way the world is connected now would be drastically different.

s

I can multiple pair of his shoes if I wanted. I'm not hurtin over here.

I'm speaking from a common sense standpoint. Gucci doesn't kick people out of their stores just b/c everybody is not spending $1,000 each time they walk in the door.

Gucci is welcoming the people spending $300. They dont tell you, "our store/brand is not for you". Maybe these $800 shoes aren't for you, but this $300 shirt is.

Whereas, Lavar is saying his entire brand is not for you.

That's dumb. You don't turn away ALL business just b/c someone doesn't buy your highest priced product.

Understand???
