yo these kids kill me bruh.
Throwing in the towel on this team?
they lost to two of the BEST teams in teh league, plus some good teams on the road in the west on a long ass road trip WITHOUT their best player playing.

I ain't giving up on this team, its too early. Lowry just showed that he was running out of steam, and Casey's rotations have been real suspect during this road trip.
When Derozan is back in the swing of this we'll be alright .

50 wins, Second round(or better) no problem

Yes lost to two great teams and couldnt make any defensive stops in either game and gave up 125 and 126 the last two games...
Completely dominated Portland for 3 quarters and died when it counted, you dont see some major concerns there ?

Guess what they wont be playing Detroit or Boston in the playoffs theyll be playing a good team and giving up 120 points wont cut it,playing one great half wont cut it...Its like some of you real "fans" dont understand its not that they losing and went 2-4,its the way they losing is a concern....

Theres nothing respectable about the way they lost to GS and PHX and tbh i dont respect the loss in POR...You supposedly a good team ? Good teams close out those games, pretenders find ways to give them away...:yeshrug:

Dont blame real heads that observe and recognize whats going on....teams warts showing.

How lucky is it to have an all-star player out for a month with an injury?
Miggs taking for granted that the team is going to go on a winning streak now?
Every team in the league has issues that can be pointed to if you've got the Major League Fan mentality.

The reality is that the Raptors are in their infancy as an upper echelon team. Growing pains are to be expected. Roster changes will come, but we have a good core group to build with and money to spend. We're not locked into anything yet. All we want is to win a playoff series this year. Masai can continue building the team up in the summer, we'll have the young guys that are still here back with that playoff experience under their belt and hopefully make a deeper run next season.

This a chess game and y'all are mad that we're losing pawns.

IM just a real fan...and heres a few nuggets to chew on

-This teams core is somewhat overstated and overrated
-This team may not win a round

Wonder what those sentiments will read like if we were to go down again in the first round...

Overstated and overrated core - that's an opinion that's easily countered just by pointing to the record and their ages. 11-7 without DeRozan, 13-3 with him. Our starting center is 22.

If they lose in the first round again that'd be a setback. What my sentiments would be would depend on how the series played out. The more playoff games the young guys can play and the deeper they can go each year should accelarate their development.

I would have said some of those things last year except i think some of are young guys just arent as good as we want them to be IE Ross and no amount of experience is going to change that...

I think pointing to a record from a body of work so small is also a fools errand breh...
You could also question some of Masai's resignings when you see some of the issues we have..defense and size werent addressed in the off season when they were glaring deficiencies from a year ago...

On one hand you do wish for maybe an extended losing streak that might force his hand....I think one of the worst things for this club right now is to go on these winning streaks in the east where it beefs up our record and makes it difficult PR wise for our GM to do anything when even when we were winning you could see the issues....They just more obvious now cuz we played better competition and got whooped.

Ross has shown that he is a bench player on a title team unless he can improve his ball skills enough to score in the paint and get to the line. But with guys like Fields, James Johnson and even DeRozan here you need to have a wing that can make 3's and he can at least do that. With Fields gone I expect a big shooting wing to be added to the team to start so Ross can come off the bench if he isn't flipped for another piece. That's the Durant dream.

Re-signing the same guys that helped you to a 55-win pace isn't a bad move. You can move those guys before the contracts run out, and as long as they're helping a winning team that builds their trade value. The hope is that Nogueira can be the 2nd-string 5 next season and provide that missing size/defense. I thought Stiemsma would play more to address that as well but it hasn't turned out that way. Maybe they can bring someone else in. I know Brandan Wright was a target for Masai for the same reasons.

It's never a bad thing to be winning games. All your players' trade value rises, and I don't think Masai would hesitate to pull the trigger on a deal that makes the team better just cuz they have a winning record. Worst case the move gets delayed until closer to the trade deadline.

This same Suns team that whupped us, we already beat them at the ACC. The Warriors have yet to come to the ACC this season. We had a bad road trip. Raptors are still on the rise.

Other impressive wins this season:

Beating Milwaukee by 40+
Comeback win in Cleveland by 17
@Boston without JV and Amir
@Denver on a back-to-back without DeRozan

Plus we've beat ATL twice. With DeMar back hopefully we can get things together and take them out again next Friday.

breh even my Lakers beat Denver :camby:

beating milwaukee by 40 is impressive? I forgot the Bucks were elite.

We beat Cleveland once and they beat us twice. So impressive.

Boston? :deadrose: BOSTON?

You're worried about brand names, not basketball. I'll counter you though.

Playing at Denver on a back-to-back is notoriously difficult. That win also made us 2-1 on the road trip before things imploded.

Milwaukee is a +.500 team. Beating any +.500 team by 40+ is impressive. It's not like they're Philly.

Yeah Cleveland beat us twice. So? If ATL beats us next Friday on a 15+-point comeback is that not impressive cuz we already beat them twice?

As for Boston: We're a team with a weak frontcourt, missing both of our frontcourt starters, playing against a team with a PF that put a 20/20 on us last season in a W. We got outrebounded 55-24 and still got the W thanks to our elite guard play. Lowry played one of his best games (Bill Simmons called it a better game than any he's seen Chris Paul play this season). So yeah, it was not against a strong team, but it was an impressive win.

Do you fools watch the Raptors NBA season or just skim thru it?

I'm as much of a Raptor fan as the next guy but I can't put too much hope into this. The teams we beat without DeRozan have been garbage. We are the beneficiaries of a soft schedule. Yeah we have beat the Hawks twice, we've also been decimated by the Bulls twice, got stomped out by Cleveland and got wrecked by GS and Phx. Its not enough to say "hey we have a good record" we have to go out there and compete with the top teams in the league.

it was a long road trip that took its toll on the guys. if you can judege the team off the last three games and not the previos 20+ then yo clearly have an agenda

I want to believe in this team but you cant deny the fact the record is purely on easy early schedule and alot of luck (OKC without Russy,KD,Memphis with 5 guys missing) They cannnot beat elite teams and there defense has been atrocious since beg of December...Thats not exactly stuff you can believe in come playoff time....Whens the last time they kept a team under 100 points ? They are the worst defensive team among the top 8 in the east and 3rd worst in the entire conference even worse than the fukkn Knicks.....Hard to believe this team wont struggle in the playoffs against whomever when they cant get stops to save there lives...Some of us posters are just not getting to into this teams record right now because we have seen recently how irrelevant that is...

But yes they about to go on about to go on another winning streak against shytty ass teams but im staying off until they start beating some good healthy teams and do it convincingly....You cant deny even with a 24-10 record they really only had 2 convincing ass wins all season (Washington,Clippers) every other win they stunk it up in the first half or 4th quarter....

I see issues with this team come April unless some changes to this roster are made and im not gonna pretend its all good just cause they for once in there existence have a winning record...
you are worried about the team beating teams that are healthy but we've been without our best player for over a month... how is that a fair way to assess the team?

and notice how the teams defense has changed since demar went out? cuz as much as alot of you guys hate on Demar, his defense was pretty good, but he really made a difference on the offensive end which helped the defense as well.
he made it so guys didn't have to give so much energy jsut to score(Lowry, etc) him getting to the line also really helped the team get setup on defense.
His play is big. Take ANY teams best player and they will have problems.
