Most of the new sh!t I hear and fuc with are from vets. Most of the newer artists are either wack, boring or been there heard that done better.

But every once in a while I'll hear some new sh!t from a newbie and be like

What/Who do you fukk with? Regions? Styles? Sometimes you think you done heard it all, go back and discover some bangin artists that slipped under your radar......I'll try n post some shyt depending on what you fukk with. O yea Im doing this now with Cash Money. They had some heat. I'm kinda mad I missed out, but at the same time it's new to me which I'm loving. I'm from NYC so that's how I'm biased. This is a very good point.

Had a potna fron Ohio that fukked with nothin but East Coast hip hop straight Wu and Boot Camp.....He dug in his milk crate and told me to listen to this green n white tape.....his EXACT words, "These nikkaz gone be bigger than No Limit watch...." Had NO IDEA what a cash money was, nobody really did outside NO at the time....

the underground scene is big and more popular then ever and u nikkas still wanna gripe about the quality of music

Quality over quantity. There's MORE underground rappers and they're getting more looks but they are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse nowadays. I agree with the first post. Every rapper nikkas told me to check out has been complete trash

There's no entry point anymore. Literally any person can upload any song at any time now. There's NO filtering out the garbage anymore. If you didn't get a cosign from a reputable before, nobody would hear you. Now a random schmuck from anywhere can upload an album on a site and say they're a rapper. There's more rappers than fans now. Literally.

I start with an artist I like and go on their wikipedia page. I then download everything they have released and then check who their consistent features are and who is under the associated acts section. I then go and listen to an album/mixtape from other rappers they seem to fukk with and if I like it then I download everything from that artist. I then repeat this process over and over.

Only thing different between amateurs and pros at this point is record contracts and the accessibility and exposure that those record contracts bring. How many "pro" rappers are popping or really making some good music. As an amateur artist we have more chances of blowing up than them because atleast we are a breathe of fresh air and haven't been shoved in your face for the last 10 years making uninspired and record company influenced music.

My music has been tested and I'm willing for you to test my music up against any one of these "pro"artist and I'm an artist on datpiff.

whoa whoa. im not even talking about today's signed rappers. mainstream hip-hop is dead, and most mainstream rappers today suffer from the same problems that i listed.

you shouldnt even strive to compare yourself to most of the signed rappers of today. cuz being better than them isnt even a compliment.
