Hate when potentially interesting threads get derailed over bullshyt. He used one site as an example and you think that site sucks while refusing to name the treasure trove of better sites you get nothing but classics from, OK, shut up already.

OP should probably edit out the site and leave it generic.

I agree with the points he's making. People tried to say this years ago, but many new sites and scenes were still emerging so they got shut down because we were still exploring. But it's 2014 so this issue can be brought up again, and I think the OP makes some insightful new points about how things really are. The internet is convenient if you already know what you want, that's the strongest point. It's like you can go and download all your classics all over again in minutes. It's not easy to find new dope music like that, because you have to be informed. We all knew of and discovered a few amazing, obscure artists, but after a while we exhaust our resources and we're back to square one and all the millions of artists out there become meaningless again.

Sites that suggest similar artist do just that, but quality is something only other human beings can determine. We don't have that just yet. The technology is there, but no one has perfected this to the extent where almost any individual can be eating good year round. I'm certain there's that much excellence out there for everyone (I mean songs that you'll be stuck on for days, I think you can get a steady stream of that and finally have more greatness than you know what to do with). We're just not there right right now. We have a lot, but like I said, those resources can be exhausted and you burn out. One day someone will create a masterpiece service that makes pandora look like a joke (it is to me).

@Existential The reason we disregarded the thread because it's REAL easy to find good music online. This isn't the napster or Kazaa era.. You can go here, allhiphop, newjams.net, or any other blog to find music. You start the thread with a negative vibe, you are going to get negative answers. By the way, your whole post is you being high.

i thank the thread starter, for saying the EXACT fukkING truth.

there currently are no great rap artist in abundance on some obscure unfound shyt out there like that.
every now and then,....
you will come across a deniro farrar,.......

other than that, you are not going to be entertaining some huge plethora of great obscure unfound artist, like that.
as the actual pedigree for great consistent emcee'n is not widespread like that.
for this large legion of unfound talent to exist.
nor, does the current talent pool in extreme generality.
study or have enough background to develop and cultivate a skillbase.

oh and real talk, if this treasure trove or sites existed.
it would be a list of them, by the posters naysaying the threadstarter.
for us all to find a new plethora of artists with quality of work at the click of a mouse.

A lot of newer shyt I'm into I've seen posted on here, ktt and tumblr.

Butttttt tbh like someone else said there's not a lot of good newer shyt in abundance

I've actually been kinda bored of hip hop, we'll not bored but I like discovering new artists & music.. There's an excitement that comes with exploring new music and artists. And right now, I'm not really getting that from hip hop.

Right now Other genres got a lot more quality newer artists, to be honest.
I feel like these days hearing a newer hip hop artist Im real into is really fukking rare.

Everyday someone who has good taste in music hits me with some type of link... @hustlemania @IronFist @JamieFoxxHairline and @Big Mel blessed me in the last few days.

I subscribe to only artists/bands I like on soundcloud and that shyt just gets served up in a stream....

I subscribe to only artists/bands I like on Youtube who constantly put out content...

On twitter I look for music other people are posting or are talking about...

This very forum has a few talented individuals who post up their own music....in the last few weeks @TEKBEATZ and @Cole Cash have put out quality.

Personally, I don't have a problem with it. In fact, my only real problem is making the time to listen to all of it.
Exactly....there's TOO MUCH good music being released right now...I got a bunch of albums saved on Spotify and downloaded on my computer that I have yet to listen to

I get put up on the majority of stuff I listen to from threads on here, Spotify Radio, related artists on Spotify, Nahright and Twitter...Spotify alone should have you eating good...On Twitter you gotta follow the right people to get put up on the good shyt

OP if you wanna listen to some good shyt check out that HS87 Album, Iamsu "Sincerely Yours" and Freddie Gibbs "The Tonite Show"
