If you buy ANYTHING on credit while you are young. Lets say a car, and a big screen TV.
Car payment $300/mo
TV $100/mo

When you are done paying them shyts off, take that $400 and put it into savings each month. Dont just go right back out and splurge. You are already used to paying that $400 to banks, so now pay it to yourself.

Craigslist if you live in a decent city. I copped a 250GB XBOX 360 for $130 a few weeks ago. That would have cost me over $400 retail.

Craiglist is the shyt.

Last week I got a perfectly functional 19-inch LCD Monitor for $20. :mj:

Some dude that works at a museum that was closing was selling them.

I asked this in the other thread, I did some research into my credit score. Im in the low 600s, I was thinking on getting a secured credit card to start to rebuild my score up. Also I got two cards in collection, one for $900 which Im going to pay off immediately, and another one for about 2.5k which Im going to haggle and hustle down.

Im 27, and I know the advice is for the young, but is it too late for my black ass to fix my shyt and get crumbs of the American dream? Would be my next course of action to begging to develop good spending habits and better care of my credit score?

Breh 27 is still plenty young. It's not too late at all.

Breh we neeeeeeeeed each other!!

This is a step towards solidarity!

Listen fam. Much love and all but I'd be weary about trusting what negroes on here have to say about finance. Always double check what they're saying and get second, third, fourth, etc opinions on what these dudes say.

Life's hard out here on these mean streets :birdman:

Best buy is 0% interest... you aint really losing. You just paying it monthly

0% interest is the shyt if you paying on time :obama: You miss one payment and the banks :pacspit: on you and raise that shyt to 23%

This. In fact, 0% interest is actually *better* than paying cash, if you account for inflation.

How behind are you on your student loans? Did you default? I would talk to them and make the minimum payments for 6 months to get you in good standing. After you are in good standing they will offer extensions.

You only need a credit score in the 500s to get a couple of credit cards.

None in default for now.I m not behind in any of my loans. Now the problem is the car. I m not buying a lemon for 5k and end up paying 7k to repair it. I m trynna buy a used car 2005-2009 in the 10-20k range.

How about credit unions though ?
