Finally found out why I like Nirvana. Dave Grohl stole from black drummers.

And you can’t be serious telling me hes not paying homage when he clearly credited the gap band for his influence.. Stealing is when you dont give credit
They were not credited on the album and did not receive any money for it. No check was cut. Coming out 30 years later to tell the world you copied an artist isn't paying homage or giving credit. Don't play stupid breh. :mjlol:

Eastside of that Motor
None of his drumming is all that spectacular in Nirvana. Thats not a diss to him, it just wasn’t written that way.
There was nothing in rock like smells like teen spirit drums.

B - Bass drum
S - Snare
4/4 open hi hat with crash in the 4th

BB-S/S-B-S-BB-S on the chorus

And his fills were great throughout never mind and in utero

Probably because Kurt openly shat on Nevermind and the mixing, and all the attention the album got.

I think people choose In Utero so they don't sound like a poser, and to look like a "Real Fan".
Pretty much this. Nevermind was pretty much connected to the “corporate sell out” image of nirvana. While In Utero was seen as the “real music fans” album. But I love Nevermind. If you borrow and rip off the correct way, and it sounds great, than idc. I’ll still like it. Lol. Nevermind was such a perfect album. It’s crazy how I never made the connection before between Grohls drumming off Nevermind and that of GAP Band and other disco/funk acts from that time. Sheesh. :whew:

Grohl has always been a solid drummer to me.

Looking back the grunge genre and all those different bands being put under that umbrella was bullshyt. Sonically they're different.

That said Alice in Chains is my favorite of the BIG SEATTLE 4 bands :wow:
Right!! Some sounded more metal than punk(AIC) some sounded more Punk than metal(Nirvana) and some were more Hardrock(Pearl Jam/Soundgarden). I mean that’s basically “grunge” innit? The love child of Punk, Metal, Hardrock. Basically when Black Flag slowed down punk music when they came out with My War in 1984, that album was a huge influence on Seattle.

The Wrong Side of the Tracks
Some of y'all MAD late. A LOT of the 'Grunge' artists ( all of them) borrowed stuff from 70's and 80's funk/disco but they were actually continuing a tradition from the 80's. Listen to the bassline of this track.......

This bassline was 'inspired' by Chic's Bernard Edwards' grooves from the 70's which is why the first time I heard this joint I was like..... :gladbron:
