Wouldn’t be surprised or perhaps late into the year but next year is more feasible. Not much has been released so perhaps they are still working on it. They shouldn’t rush we had a final fantasy title (even though it wasn’t a main titled game) in 2020 and 2021.

Yoshi-p said the next time they show it they want it ready for pre order. They just said they are showing it in spring.

imran khan said the original release date for it was late 2021 along with forspoken in fall of last year

Yoshida interview: FF16 in "final stage" of development

in Uniqlo's magazine this month with the release of the FF 35th anniversary T-shirts. Here's what he said near the end of the interview about 16:

Right now the development of FF16 is in its final stage. As a single player game, we are aiming to integrate story and gameplay even further. Different to a game where many people play online at the same time, the extent to which the game has an individual focus changes how immersed you are in the story. I think it's become a story with quite a lot of depth. To people who have grown up, entered working society and think "reality isn't as easy-going as a video game", and at some point ended up separating from Final Fantasy, we want to want them to remember their passion from back then. We're making the game with that intention.

Played 15 and kinda enjoyed it. It starts off pretty slow and boring but picks up considerably. Wound up buying all the DLC, the Ardyn DLC was amazing. Prior to that I hadn’t played a Final Fantasy game to completion since FF7 lol
