Real G's move in silence
Just keeping it real here those Eikon fights were amazing spectacles to behold but as actual boss battles they were trash. They weren’t challenging and most of them dragged on for too long. They felt like extra long cutscenes. Cool to look at and experience for the first time but that novelty was most of the enjoyment. The pre-prime Benedikta and Titan fights were better bosses than the Eikon parts.
This game is a lot like Metal Gear Solid 4. It was an amazing experience at the time but now that I’ve completed it I doubt I ever really want to go back and experience it again. The best part was seeing these things unfold for the first time.
The ending also left a sour taste for me personally. I felt cheated to play through this long game to get the sort of ending this game had.
If the fights were dragging for you I get it, they were large scale and had a lot of phases. That shyt just worked for me. Being able to actually fight as a summon instead of giving commands was part of what made this game great. Controlling Phoenix against Bahamut like a Star Fox boss battle? Heat.
The game is flawed and they need to look at the combat as a blueprint instead of the finished article, but I can accept what didn't work here and still think it was worth my time.
And even if this wasn't your idea of an FF game they usually make a lot of changes with every mainline entry in the series
