On the other hand, PCs in Japan are mostly used for work, so that’ll be upside down there. Yoshida explained that while Final Fantasy XI helped bring more Japanese gamers to PC, they still predict 65 percent of players to use a console for this next game.

However, he expects that with the release of the PS4 version, knowing “how great the PS4 version is going to be,” these percentages might shift and go a little bit more in favor of consoles in both territories.

“Players will be able to have a full HD display with hundreds of characters on at a time — and be in your living room,” Yoshida explained. “This is all for the price of the PS4 console, rather than having to put together a couple thousand dollars worth of PC equipment.

“Once players realize they can do that, I think a lot of players will go that route.”

Yoshida confirmed that the PS4 version of A Realm Reborn is coming early 2014, so it’s not even that far off.

You guys actually think MMOs are for console. There's a reason why WOW is damn near 20 years old and never released on console. MMOs are meant for pc.. The MMO population is mainly on PC but you retards think people care about consoles.. It's funny because console players probably button smashing thinking they're doing DPS but the numbers don't lie. PC gaming is mostly a western thing. The vast majority of players in Japan (where the game is made) play on console. The developers of SE actually make the game with controller first. Yoshi P plays on a controller. All the dev videos they release are on a controller.

I have ffxiv on ps5 and pc like most people. I beat endwalker on the ps5 so I could sit comfy on the couch with a big screen and surround sound and enjoy the story. If I raid or want to check out my dps logs Ill jump on the PC.

And FFXIV is the number 1 MMO in the world right now already surpassing WOW. It is a big advantage for sony to offer that exclusively on their consoles

Also FFXIV has just as many monthly subscribers as gamepass

Ffxiv just hit 25m players. WOW had 45m players 2 years ago.

Saying most Japanese don't play on pc is a joke. All the big streamers in Japan play on pc. You can see their input...

I’ve noticed MMO’s are like their own little worlds. Once you’re fully committed to one thats the one you will likely spend years on, like consoles. It’s where all your friends are, all your good gaming moments, all your characters…too hard to jump ship after awhile
