We're approaching 3 years later and they're still hiring for the development of the game. They took it from the original team and moved it in house a while ago and are still hiring. You would think that in over 3 years of development the first part of the game would at least be damn near ready but nope.

Then again Kingdom Hearts III was announced in 2013 and might actually be released in 2018.

Does it really take 6 years for a competent developer to make a game? I can remember when 6 years was basically a whole console generation. Now it's a development cycle for a single game.
square enix is a shyt show nowadays. When they eventually come, they'e good games but not even close to worth half a decade wait.

You know who' allowed to do 5 year development cycles?

Rockstar and Nintendo, that's it.
because every gta, Mario and Zelda are always 10/10

Square Enix is probably trying to release the game close to the end of the PS4 cycle and into the early PS5 cycle. It will force the majority of the people to double dip for the same game.

Basically copying what Rockstar did with GTA5.

i totally forgot about this until i read they're hiring for the development team. i gave up on this so could care less if it's released or not. i'm starting to feel that way with KH3 even tho we're getting screenshots and videos of progress.

I'm still disappointed this game wasn't better than 6. And from a casual perspective there's NO WAY this is coming out in at least 2 years.

The lack of effort from Square since ffix is disgusting

I dapped you for playing 6 and having an opinion, but I disagree whole heartedly.
6 sucks, the characters have no depth.
Every character becomes OP just by slotting an esper and walking around, with absolutely no drawbacks. Every character has "special" attacks that can be used every single turn. Every character can wear "relics" that basically insta-OP them by giving the class features you had to earn in FF5. You can take a side character, give them a +2 magic esper, 2 strong relics, and move them to the back row, and over the course of a dungeon, with doing nothing other than "attack", they will be a super mage capable of leveling end game bosses.
Because the things that make characters powerful (relics, espers and stats) aren't tied to their person in any meaningful way, the characters are just palette swaps to building a "fighter specialist healer wizard" party. Want that to be Cyan/Locke/Terra/Strago? Cool. Want it to be Gau/Setzer/Cyan/Mog? Great, go for it. Have the exact same abilities and outcomes with both parties, why not.
Then there's the fact that the entire world is just reskinned and given to you as a second half quest, and people treat it like it's this insane plot twist. By a villain that does what, exactly? What's Kefka's motivation? Just to destroy the world because he's "crazy?"
Literally every single villain before him had a much, MUCH better motivation for what they were doing.
Garland: wanted to control time so made a pact with devils
Palamecia: Wanted to use hell to conquer the world, and opened a dimensional rift
Xande: Felt ripped off by what he was left with by his mentor, so started a revenge quest
Zemus: Wanted to claim earth as his own because his home planet was destroyed
X-Death: wanted revenge for being banished to another dimension
Kefka: Ughhhh, wants to blow up the world because he's crazy

The whole game is a study in how to appeal to 9 year olds.
