Those later plotlines are from the original game and they acknowledge it in-game, you’re arguing against yourself

Its not simply the writers changing things about the remake it’s in-universe changes being created by the original game.

The plot line along midgar was completely straight forward in the original game. There was no room for interpreting what happened up until that point

And just to go back, this isn’t even true.

EVERYTHING in midgar was a damn lie in the first game.

That was THE big twist of the game.

There was always a disconnect in cloud and Tifa interactions, perspectives and repor that was presented to us as the player but wasn’t actually explained or explored till later in the game.
