Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is god reincarnated THE TRUE GAME OF THE GENERATION

(ONLY) the first part is called Remake because Sephiroth is REMAKING the OG events according to knowledge he gained after Cloud whooped him for the third time (aka Advent Children).

That's why the second game isn't "Remake" anymore, but REBURF.

They played with the wording, for sure - but it works in the story they're trying to tell. Not a one to one remake of the OG game, but the antagonist (and arguably one of the protagonists in future Aerith) battling to un/re/de-make the original story.

I mainlined my first play through and am on my hard mode run taking my time now and yeah this game is already top 10 for me.
