I personally thought Nicole Kidman's "why I adopt" monologue towards the end of Lion was godawful, particularly the dreaming about brown people shyt:gucci:

I thought the first half of Lion was amazing. That kid deserved more award buzz than Patel, but kids never really get acknowledgement (Last year proved it as well with Room and Beasts of No Nation). But the parts with Patel and his girlfriend just didn't do it for me. The editing in it was also really weird and distracting, but again, only during the Patel parts. The ending was pretty great though:ehh:

So I've been told. I hated that scene. "I saw a brown skinned boy in my vision and it was like electricity in my bones:sadcam:"

I can do without that kind of white guilt/white savior hokey monologue:hubie:

Kidman was incredible in that scene but other than that it really is a weird-as-fukk adoption commercial.:russ:

No Birth Of A Nation on the lists so far :jbhmm:
Given the hype and a thread with almost 1300 posts I expected BoaN to be close to the top for many.
I'm not saying it will be on my list but still...

I think Hollywood has done way too many slave movies/miniseries/tv shows. Enough already. I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way. I still ain't seen 12 Years A Slave. After Django, I'm good on slave films.

I just thought it was a solid but not great movie. The final scene was great though, especially that final shot, had me like:mjcry:
