He's what, 45 now? How old is someone when they startvthe role?

early to mid 30s now. Sean was 30 when he got it, Roger was in his mid 40s but looked younger but also he was less physical in the role, George Lazenby was in his late 20s, Dalton was in his 20s when they approached him but 43 when he took it and Pierce was late 30s I think. With Daniel, they decided they wanted someone early to mid 30s like Sean so they could sign them for multiple years and be physical. I've said this before but by the time the next movie is shooting, Idris will be too old for someone to be in at least 3 or 4 movies. He'll be in his 50s and I have no desire to see a 50 year old playing James Bond ever again.

Nah its too late for Idris. I know why they gave Craig so much money now, I can't picture a single actor to take over the 007 role. Maybe Tom Hardy but idk, I'm not convinced.

They didn't pay him the money breh, that's a rumor that the internet ran wild with but then forgot the fact that it was a rumor. Especially the part about Sony paying him the money or convincing EON to pay him when Sony has nothing to do with the franchise anymore

Michael Wilson said once that they always set out to make From Russia With Love but sometimes they end up making Moonraker. Die Another Day is the perfect example of that:russ: First act is setting up something interesting and an actual spy story. Once he gets out of Korea, shyt is downhill

Daniel Craig has grown on me considerably but he's hardly the best 007...he is the most least convincing ladies man of the lot IMO. That's an important facet of the move character.
Just on the art of getting the draws in these Bond joints alone:
:ufdup:Connery>>>>Moore>>>Brosnan>>Lazenby>>Dalton>>Craig

I feel that but let me raise this counterpoint: Craig plays him more like the books, very much like Dalton did which is sex is a weapon or just a means to past the time. Moore seemed like he'd much rather have sex than save the world and Connery seemed the same from Goldfinger on forward. The scene in Casino Royale where he's with the chick, gets wind of his mark leaving town and ditches her is what Bond is supposed to be, at least according to Fleming and according to the people in the movies. He uses them as dispensable pleasures merely to past the time. Like in Dr. No when he's with the girl and looks at his watch while kissing her.

You know I love ya, fam but this ain't the books. These actors are iterations of a literary character.

If Casino Royale followed the novel step by step it would've been ass boring.
That's why I tried to specify movie character.

That's true but I guess that's the interpretation of Bond I like. I feel like Goldfinger, while a great flick, sort of defanged the character even from his film interpretation. Connery played him more laid back, less of a brute and less of a coiled snake. I really do think his anger with the producers came through on screen and he just stopped caring which meant he stopped trying. And it doesn't help that he really does nothing in Goldfinger as a character. That movie became the template because it was the most successful at the time and Moore continued softening him up because he didn't want to play him like Sean and was more apt playing sophisticated comedy.

I've never once doubted whether Craig is a ladies man, i just think his Bond doesn't give a shyt

Dalton - best all round bond he was just let down by the movies
Roger Moore - most convincing ladies man had the most entertaining movies not credible anywhere else.
Brosnan - Poor roger moore imitation and if you minus goldeneye did not have a good movie
Connery - He was aight I guess
Craig - Convincing brute not so suave though, as for his movies? mixed bag.
Lazenby doesn't count

Connery's steel charm is very convincing as a ladies man. Moore was just never right for the part of Bond seeing how he played The Saint like a proverbial glove that was better suited for him. But if anything that I believed as I was watching him onscreen, is that Moore's 007 didn't have a problem bedding women.
He kinda sucked with the action portion of his run:mjlol:
And my boy Lazenby blowing out backs at Piz Gloria :banderas:
