At first, I scoffed it off, but with the way Floyd felt them, I can understand his concern. After seeing Assault in the Ring, I don't EVER want to see another Luis Resto situation again.
But listen, I think there's an underlying layer here. When Floyd fought Cotto, I believe Cotto was allowed to wear Everlast, not as hard as Reyes, nowhere near as soft as Grant. That's why Floyd wears Grant, to protect his well-known brittle hands. Even still, he finds a way to hurt them during fights.
Anyways, I think those gloves were one reason Cotto was able to bust up Floyd's nose. Knowing Floyd, he wants Maidana to change to a more softer brand of glove. Hopefully, the commission will not bend over backwards and let Chino wear his own choice, but provided that they are tampered with in any way. whatsoever.
Also, I kinda think this is some last-minute ploy to draw more hype into the fight (part of the reason why I felt Floyd revealed all that shyt about Miss Jackson), as well as a way to get into Maidana's head.
