That is usually decided at contract. For instance floyd usually doesnt like the Cleto Reyes gloves cause them joints are a KO artist special

Floyd likes them Grant gloves and forces his opponents to use thosr or a brand built like em, cause its hard to get a KO with those gloves. Those arte a boxers glove. Its the type and way the gloves are padded.

Maidana probably shifted around the padding so his knuckles can pierce through. It still weighs the same but less padding around the knuckles. Tyson talked about this and used to do it himself, thats why if you pay attention his gloves used to be pulled way back and he kept pushing his gloves in.

Floyd fights you usually see Grant or Winning or some hybrid.
Surprised Maidana wanted to go with everlast---I've never used their $400 gloves but Everlasts always seemed thick in the knuckles to me.
Reyes gloves=recipe to breaking your hand or KO'ing your opponent. I got a pair of low end grants ($200, 14oz) and they're excellent for your knuckles/wrist. GGG does the same thing with his gloves that iron mike did

i dont understand how anybody can stan ggg. he blatantly redistributes the padding on his gloves for his fights and nobody cares.
