But WB had been coming to the Wachowskis damn near every year for a sequel and they said nah, the story was done. They came to them in 2019 and said we're doing this whether you're involved or not.

The entire first act of the movie was some super meta shyt where a game studio kept trying to get Neo to do a sequel to a game before finally telling him they were doing it whether he was involved or not. A lot of commentary about execs squeezing every drop of blood out of an IP and relying on nostalgia.

My comment was pointing out that to the Wachowskis, the story was already complete.

As for the Matrix, I wish they would please stop. The original Matrix is in my top 5 movies of all time. The 2nd was good, but the ones that followed have been awful ever since. I'd rather them do a spin off that is closely related but doesn't share the legendary "Matrix" name
