A lot of you guys are being silly. Castro was a brave leader and challenged America and didnt fold despite his country being geographically, economically, and militarily weaker.

That being said he only served those that adhered to communism and infringed on people's rights (freedom of mobility, free speech, congregation).

His regime was totalitarian. And to really celebrate him only because he inserted himself in African wars (he didn't care about identity politics but rather spreading communism) and standing up to the States really shows how out of touch you pro-black militants are.

At the high end, doctors with two specialties will see their salary go from the equivalent of $26 a month to $67, while an entry-level nurse will make $25, up from $13. Salaries at government jobs in Cuba average about $20 a month, augmented by a range of free services and subsidies.Mar 21, 2014
Cuba hikes salaries for doctors, nurses to as much as $67 a month ...

:stopitslime: $67 a month and he's revered for not being a racist?

I'm talking about everyone not one race of people. I can't speak about other countries since i don't know about them. Or about white supremacy in this country since I'm not part of it. He was a horrible leader and person. So because he gave blacks opportunity then he's considered a hero? Yeah as long as he keeps the white people down then he's great? Someone on my Facebook posted a video about nine things he's done for black people and I replied with yeah he's helped black people all over the world except in his own country. Just because he gives people things like healthcare and education doesn't mean he's the best. Kind of like the democrats over here and their government assistance program. People get brainwashed by those that give them things and let themselves be controlled. Look at Elian Gonzalez now. His own mother sacrificed her life to try and get him to escape the Castro regime and live a better life here, and now he's saying that Fidel was like a father to him. Another example of the oppressed being brainwashed by the oppressor.

Either you are brainwashed or blinded into thinking that Cuba's economy is based on a capitalistic system. Had that country been regarded as a capitalist country and that's the pay of their doctors and nurses then it's a LEGIT complaint. But it's a socialist country to where value of a POSITION means little. It's all about a DISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH. The unfortunate thing is, and this is due to the UNITED STATES EMBARGO which was done solely to cripple the people of Cuba in hopes it'll revolt against Castro, is why the economy since the fall of the Soviet Union been hurting (it's now been rebuilding since they opened up more to free marketing). Therefore, is why the pay is mere pennies to the dollar. THAT SAID, it is moot when 90% has a home, 99% are educated and can read, and unemployment is just 2%, and the vast majority in good health due to a FREE health care system they have. Put that in comparison to black people here in the United States.....

The issue is that mostly WHITE-CUBANS who enjoyed the fruits of their white supremacy in Cuba fled once Castro took over because he was integrating everyone to live under a socialist/communist way of life. Those white Cubans wanted things the way they were and fed into the greed that America was showcasing.

Free education in a country that teaches North-Korean like propaganda in schools, doesn't have Internet, and will kill you for having it brehs!

Free food rations in a country where millions of people have starved brehs!

Highly subsidized utility bills in a country where blackouts are routine brehs!

Free medical coverage provided by an incompetent and uneducated Doctor brehs!

Most Cubans "own" their own homes, but if you put a satellite dish on your home you'll be killed by the government brehs!

Lowest poverty rate! We know this because Fidel told us so and wouldn't allow any independent researchers, or the Internet brehs!

YOU CLEARLY do not know what the fucck you are talking about... :camby:

His regime was totalitarian. And to really celebrate him only because he inserted himself in African wars (he didn't care about identity politics but rather spreading communism) and standing up to the States really shows how out of touch you pro-black militants are.

Lets get one thing straight 1st and foremost... Castro's ideology and how he wanted Cuba to be initially was based on socialism, the sole reason why he transformed Cuba into a communist country is because of needing that relationship with the Soviety Union since the United States were hard set to invade his country by any means necessary so he needed that protective ally and adopted their way of governing in order for his country to thrive.

The only fair criticism you can make about Castro is stripping the country away from having freedom of speech, and even that's mostly due to ensuring the stability of the country, seeing surrounding countries from Central and South America continuously be unstable, largely due to false American propaganda. He doesn't want media manipulation at all and want his voice be the only voice. Again, this is a FAIR criticism to have, but not to suggest he's some kind of tyrannical evil overlord which this country wants to depict him as.

His regime is indeed totalitarian, but here's my issue whenever people wants to put tags and titles on governing... there is NO SUCH THING AS A PERFECT WAY OF GOVERNING. Having a totalitarian government doesn't mean it is an evil government. Having a communist ideology or a socialist ideology doesn't equate to having an evil ideology. Because as much as this country supports CAPITALISM, as much as we claim this country as a DEMOCRATIC-REPUBLIC, we have huge issues in how this country is governed, how the election process is handled, and how people aren't being shared their basic civil and HUMAN rights on his U.S. soil. So, say what you want about Fidel, but history has shown he has the interests of the people 1st in mind, and those who chose to betray, revolt, and dismantle it... he handled them accordingly, no so much different from how THIS GOVERNMENT has handled those who opposed them.

What bothers me the most is how can we blindly condemn someone when we live in a country that done and continue to do far worse..... I am not saying you support President Obama, but there are MILLIONS that support Obama without any hesitancy, yet he has a lot of blood on his hands and done LESS in doing anything for black people here in these States and done the complete opposite in doing things in Africa from that of Fidel. What Fidel have done and achieved and pushed despite everything that the United States tried to destroy outweighs any kind of imperfections he had. This is a small country that been providing humanitarian aid to neighboring countries that are struggling worse that the United States ignore... a small country that help in the liberation of several African countries as well as instrumental of abolishing Apartheid in South Africa. How he ran his regime is one thing, and stripping people's freedom of speech is something to criticize him for... but for nearly 60 YEARS, literally 50 years of his control....and Cuba is still standing. You gotta give credit.

Somalia and Ethiopia both had relations with the USSR, war broke out btw S and E, USSR and Cuba helped out the weaker E at the time bcuz S almost reached Adis. USSR and Cuba gave us an L and decimimated half our military:ehh:. This only shows that the communist countries like Cuba only care to serve their ideology and only interfered when it was in their interest
Every side did that during the Cold War and many African countries were reaching out to both sides for assistance, the West also aligned with groups that claimed to be anti-Communist without regards to anything else with regards to free speech or human rights. They did not exactly have a checklist about whether the groups they supported had full commitment to Western ideology because many of them were not that different to Communist supported groups. Western nations accepted Portuguese claims on colonies simply because Portugal was a NATO nation even under a Salazaar dictatorship. In Angola Cuban forces were guarding Chevron oil installations and protecting American oilman from attacks spearheaded by American supported UNITA/Apartheid forces. If this were strictly about ideology I doubt the Cubans would have been fully supporting a party like UNITA that still had extensive western links in countries like France.

Don't get me wrong, Castro initially had great things for Cuba as far as socialism and I couldn't careless if his communist policies even worked for Cuba or not but his regime was totalitarian and he was suppressing people's rights.
And there's a hypocrisy when western leaders like Obama have blood in their hands but is never held accountable, you're right. But freedom of speech, mobility, religion, expression, in the States have been challenged but never completely stripped entirely (as of today). You cant say the same with Cuba.
I already gave him credit for the good things he's done I'm just saying there's two sides to every coin.

That further supports what I'm saying. Cuba injecting itself in African affairs was purely political and out of self interest, not bc he saw some POC unity like some of these guys are pushing

Al Jazeera and RT like exposing US for what they are, the msinstream media here is bias as hell

Which is again the ONLY criticism you can say about Fidel.... And I already explained his reasoning. But that freedom of speech and everything that goes with it doesn't equate the tag of an evil ruler, not having a totalitarian government should be regarded as an oppressive way of governing. There's no right or wrong kind of government... just what works best for that particular country. My point is no human being is perfect, no leader comes without flaw.... but when you reflect on someone, especially someone who's an iconic figure like Castro....you reflect on what he was and symbolized and his impact OVERALL....
