I think the US wanted to invade Cuba in the 60's like a lot of other "Spanish speaking" counties in the Americas and got a :skip::scust::what::dwillhuh::dwillhuh::dwillhuh::beli::beli::beli::patrice::patrice::francis::francis::francis::francis::francis::francis::stopitslime::stopitslime::stopitslime::skip::skip::skip::skip::skip::skip: from allies.... Doesn't make sense but it kinda makes sense because of these Oil/Opium wars will never end until the US has FULL control:martin:

I'ev always asked myself what Cuba would've been without that embargo.

Havanna would probably be like Cancun in Mexico, Jamacia or any island heavily dependent on American tourism and full of springbreakers and overall fukkery. It would probably become like the Vegas of the Caribbean or disneyland for adults or something like that....

That said, for the people who have the most to lose (the poor and black), it's better off history ended up the way it did.

Thats why Fidel is a special man. Yea he did bad things early on but in the long run you'll see he helped so many cubans and people from all over latin america and africa and so many generations of those who have benefited from the revolution that otherwise would be much more poor, uneducated, not healthy at all, hooked on drugs, or doing other illegal activity to survive. Kinda like what you see in our poorest cities or the worst places in the carribean/latin america.

Without the revolution Cuba would be dangerous as say Jamacia in the slums, and culturally probably no different than Americas major big cities. Cuba is special the way it is. I think there's no compromise between the revolution, communism/socialism and the embargo. You had to have either one or the other. All or nothing for it to work.

Thought he died a while ago :dwillhuh:

like a year ago my friend told me it was a "weekend at bernies" situation. I guess they just made it offical.:hubie:

Yup. From all over Africa and the Caribbean as well.

My sister got her medical degree from Cuba and my girl is currently there studying.

As a matter of fact I just came back from Cuba this week.

Yea when I was there I met so many africans studing not only Medicine but other subjects for FREE. There was also a big dorm for all them (international students) and it was decent by their standards I guess, not USA college standards of course but it was all free and everyone was grateful.

By the way, did you need a VISA to travel there now that relations are normal and regular airlines fly there. I was looking into going but I wasn't clear what Americans need.

RIP. Did the Cuban people like Fidel? Seems like only non-Cubans and people who wear Che Guevara and Malcolm X shirts, who never been to Cuba, revere him.

You can't really say anything bad about Fidel to Cubans in Cuba.....probably because word might get out if you do:sadcam: But many have mixed feelings inside. I don't think anyone living in cuba can hate him like those in Miami. They wouldve been gone or dead if they did. Even people who leave Cuba love fidel and their country because of him. He's like a family memeber lol, plus all the propoganda over the years has made him out to be a god-like. I had a feeling Che is bigger to them though.

Rip. I wonder what this means

Nothing changes. Raul been running things for years. And Fidels impact, influence and legacy is too strong

Fidel was a titan. Growing up in the islands we saw a different side of him. A ton of our kids got an education in Cuba and many were able to get access to Cuba's healthcare system. Americans came to hate this guy and some of it is justified but Cuba was basically treated like a whore by Americans.

Not a socialist by any means but understood his motives. He ultimately failed the Cuban people in some key areas but standing up to Batista and being a voice to many Davids is what I'll remember him for.

well said:salute:

no man is perfect.

I think understanding Fidel role in Cuba is almost like Escobar in Colombia. He did some bad stuff to get and keep power but everyone living there knows how much he meant to the country and people. :manny:

but overall, Cuba is a GOAT country to travel to. It's like no other place, trust me. :ohlawd:

RIP :wow:

and I have some good movies on fidel/cuba if anyone wants to learn more on it.

Your mod ass seems to know enough.... Why have US and Cuban relations been so poor over the last 60 to 70 years??? I just want knowledge no spin

Simple, the US wanted Cuba to bow down to them, fidel said no. The US (whites) does not like any ideology that opposes there's (ask Malcom, huey, the panthers etc etc). The man who fidel replaced, Batista was put in by the US, at that time Cuba was a oligarchy, which means a few rich land owners held all the power & controlled all the resources and surprise, guess who they was in bed with? US corporations (think that 99%) (Google "banana Republic" ) I mean Jesus before fidel Cubans couldn't even visit the vacation resorts that they worked at!

Ask yourself this why are there such harsh sanctions from the most powerful country ever on a tiny island? Do you know that the US sanctions doesn't even allow other countries to trade with them. The sole reason they are poor are because of the sanctions. Cuba was /is being used as an example to any other nation who thinks of going against the grain. Most of the expatriates, the main ones anyways are family members of these oligarchs who used to be rich back in Cuba, the rest have been brain washed by the US into again forgetting that any misery being had by there people back in Cuba is 100% the fault of America

I chose this name because both of those fools didn't give a fukk about Cubans. Just like neither Hilary or Trump gives a fukk about America.

Every politician is a puppet and meaningless including Obama. They are to be mocked and made satire of and have their name parodied whenever possible.
I didn't support either candidate, but that has nothing to do with this thread. Castro like him or not cared for his people.
