I think communism made more sense when the world was agrarian, but today not so much.

Stateless society is never coming, so state communism is what communism is. Could you really imagine the Earth with no governments with today's technology? We'd be extinct in a couple months.

he's the definition of gray area for me. i'm not going to praise him, but he did do a lot of significant things in his life that i would applaud. some for the right reasons, some for the wrong reasons. he also did a lot of terrible shyt that i don't condone.

whatever he is, he's definitely a legendary historical figure. love him or hate him.

I respect what he did Afro-Cubans & Black people around the world. The nerve of these American journos talking about racial inequalities in Cuba when Black people in that country were probably better off under Castro than Blacks in the Jim Crow Amerikkkan south.

Not sure what to think about the mass executions & jailing of political dissidents, but America's never ending attempts to overthrow him probably made that situation worse.

He was a hard man who lived in harsh times. The US tried to kill him hundreds of times, supported an invasion to overthrow him, tried stirring up internal revolts at every opportunity, put the entire country under economic siege.
Up until the end of the Reagan era, Castro was under constant threat of a US backed coup attempt or an outright invasion.
How Castro approached that situation is a massive grey area for me. Im not gunna sit here & judge that when he spent decades under attack from a ruthless superpower situated just 90 miles away.
Once Bill Clinton was in office though, that threat level dissipated, so I wont make any excuses for whatever he did in the 90s & 2000s.
