Heartbreaking. I wish our police had better tools to subdue guys like this without ending their lives. This is just too brutal to be happening in the U.S. in 2014.

Missouri lawmakers and civic leaders threaten to recall Ferguson’s mayor if he doesn’t quit
An advocacy group that includes Missouri state lawmakers and members of various civic groups is demanding that the mayor and police chief of Ferguson, Missouri leave their respective positions, the Huffington Post reported on Wednesday.
A one-page letter from the “Justice for Michael Brown Leadership Coalition” called for Mayor James Knowles and Chief Thomas Jackson “to immediately resign from their positions of authority and if not we will call upon the people to immediately do a recall of the Mayor of Ferguson.”
According to the letter, the coalition includes at least 21 members, including two Democratic Party state senators, Maria Nicole Chappelle-Nadal and Jamilah Nasheed, local committeewoman Patricia Payne, and Robert Ringo, an alderman from the nearby city of Greendale. Other members are affiliated with organizations including the NAACP, the state Green Party, the New Black Panther Party, and the St. Louis Urban League, among others.
The statement also calls for the city to fire Officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown on Aug. 9, an incident that spurred protests both in the city and around the country. Brown was allowed to leave the city on paid leave by local officials out of concern for his safety.
It also demands that Gov. Jay Nixon (D) “immediately remove” St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch from the case. Nixon said in a statement on Tuesday that he would not do so, while allowing McCulloch the option of recusing himself if he sees fit.
McCulloch told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch a local grand jury might not see all of the evidence in the case until October.
“Some people say we are rushing to judgment and others say we are dragging it out,” he was quoted as saying. “We will do this as expeditiously as possible but certainly not in any haphazard manner.”
The coalition’s demands came to light a day after Knowles told MSNBC that, despite only having 3 Black officers out of 53 in the local police department and a nearly all-white city council in a community that is 63 percent Black, Ferguson has “no racial divide.”

he clearly didnt charge him
but he didnt listen to the officier and was moving forward

Most people know working with the public is hard work, being a cop is even harder. Is that an excuse to not be punished when they screw up? To not have transparency when investigations are conducted?

I know it's been said by a lot of people, a lot of times, but not enough. I don't know what it's gotta take for cops to stop murdering and terrorizing people, but god damn. It's 2014. One of my best friends and his dog were murdered by a cop in 2006 when a SWAT team fired a sub-machine gun through the front door as he went to answer it, and they had the wrong person. Just gunned him down, "lost" the front door in the evidence locker, the coroner changed his autopsy report twice, and the cop got away with it...obviously.
It's crazy. I would never call the cops unless I had no other choice. I bet if I called them because someone broke into my house, that they'd find a way to shoot or arrest me. I don't feel safe around them, ever, and I don't feel like they're there to protect or serve me.
I could be wrong, but I think most people share this idea. I used to think it was only a few bad apples, and maybe I'm just getting cynical, but I swear the ONLY people I hear defending the police at this point are actual police, their family members, and maybe their close friends.

First off, fukk 'em. I'm not sticking up for them. None of what I'm about to say applies to cops gunning people down. I'm talking real life, life/death scenarios when you have no option but to fire. Cops killing people has to stop, and this issue touches home for me because I lost one of my closest friends to a cop that murdered him in cold blood on December 1st, 2006. He was unarmed and not even the right suspect, and then after they killed him they killed his dog.
No sympathy from me. I just have some training in security, firearms, etc, and wanted to shed some light on your post. Dead men can't talk, yes. That's true. Also, people are taught to shoot for the "center mass" which is above the stomach/sternum and below the head. It's the largest target, easiest to hit under stress, and it's the most likely to actually stop someone.
The goal is to stop the threat. Most handgun injuries are survived, like more than 90%. It's really hard to shoot anything under stress. Your hands shake, your heartbeat is slamming, etc. Aiming for the legs would be a hard shot to pull off. Also, it's probably not gonna stop someone. Most people don't fall down as soon as they get shot, so it's not uncommon for people to get shot and keep running, shooting back, etc. Aiming for the head is hard too. So center mass is where cops, civilians, military, everyone is trained to fire at. And you fire until they go down.
The dude in this video lived, and he got unloaded on. Every round hit him, at point blank range.
You call 911 and hopefully they survive. But a "wounding shot" is not easy or practical. The Ferguson situation is fukked and doesn't apply, and I think they should put the cop under the jail forever. A gunfight or legit deadly force scenario is completely different than all these instances of police executing innocent people left and right.
