For a place like msg you need to at least announce a headliner match if it’s was a network event I’m sure the numbers would be higher but it’s a tv taping and those are crapshoots. They should of also made it a theme show to advertise they fuked up

AEW been entertaining but this is a dramatic narrative. We've heard that the E is going to get dethroned before like when Angle and TNA linked or when Hulk and TNA linked up.

The only difference this time is that Meltzer and co are fully pushing this narrative instead of reporting impartially.

Reporters shouldn't have a horse in the race, that's the issue. It would be the same thing if he was shytting on AEW on WWE's behalf.

AEW has also been pretty clear about wanting to be an alternative as opposed to Dumbass Dixie and her attempts to try dethroning a company with a multi-decade head start.

If you saw Smackdown last night, you might understand the reason.

They are peddling the same garbage as usual, only with a brighter titantron and more graphics on screen. Crowd started dying after the first match. Short, boring re-matches ending with roll-ups. No wonder why I see posts in the AEW threads saying "This match is too long, that guy is a jobber", because that's the mentality WWE has engraved on them. Unless it is one of the same 10 names that have been on top for the past 10 years, everybody else is a "jobber" and don't deserve to have longer matches.

Tuned out after Cesaro vs Otis. "Hey, this should be an interesting clash of styles", I thought, and then they had a match shorter than their entrances. "Bu...bu... but they are building a story". Sure thing. I'll bet the results from future shows will prove otherwise, as has been for years.

I believe one of the main problems of the business today is that they trying to fill a slot for EVERYBODY on the roster... Keep in mind back in the 90s people had to literally scratch, crawl, and fight to get that TV time every two hours.. Especially on PPVs or to get big PPVs..

I checked for a long time after Vince bought WCW

Then, I came back like 5 years ago and we were already getting to this point.

A lot of it has to be the internet.

When I was watching during the '90s, I couldn't just watch New Japan & read dirt sheets whenever I wanted.

There was just kayfabe stuff available to me like PWI or whatever.

The videogame/anime culture blowing up had to have a lot to do with this too.

Meltzer name dropped both Daniel Bryan and Buddy Murphy Saturday and has for every AEW signing but Sting. Also, what good would it do for Dave’s business if WWE collapsed?

when wrestling lost it's "cool" that's all that were left.. kids and adults who didnt grow out of the phase of being a fan most of whom are dweebs

I think wwe realizes this and is trying to expand their audience hence the rolling loud partnership and the sudden push of black wrestlers
