No doubt, thank you. You know the deal. It was literally like surgery, operating on something you cared about...almost like a human (tapes are better lol)

I respect you for fixing tapes. I could do simple fixes - but when alot of that tape ran off that spool it frustrated me.

If it did get fixed that was on some big achievement steez.

I had my time with tapes - late 80s to around 2004.

I feel that New York rap fans who taped off Stretch and Bobbito really had something else.

To hear those shows lives must have been such a blessing.

I wonder what other radio stations in different states and provinces popped off?

Toronto had 89.5FM, 105.5FM, AM 640, 680AM.

I know about Stretch and Bob WCKR I believe.

LA had Sway and Tech.

Then Hot 97 in New York was I assume more popular Hop Hop?

I wonder what was popping in Texas, Atlanta, Miami, Baton Rouge, New Orleans?

yeah of course.

we had whpk in chicago and this forum used to discuss our mixshows we listened to in the past as well

which is why i wonder what this new gen does.
as who is their culture based dj?

These were the Memorex ones I was talking about. 80s vibe to them.

This just hit me man.

I had Kriss Kross totally crossed out on one of these. Actually I still have it

Word. Yeah, I don't know how the new generation gets their dj leadership.

I guess online like crazy.

College radio djs used to be true leaders.
Some more so then others even back then.

There you have it

The remainder of this post can be spent reminiscing or talking about the second best. Pause but these tapes even feel better than other tapes when you hold them in your hand.
Yep these were the best. I dubbed on them the best CDs only. When I download a mid 90s mixtape mp3, I put them on 90 min TDK to listen on my basement stereo.

damn this brings me back

got me thinking of when I was driving from Chicago to Austin a few years back and stopped in this small town for lunch and found this old record shop where they still sold new tapes from old releases. Remember seeing some Usher, 2 live crew and Xzibit mixed with some country music. Felt surreal that these can even still exist.

took a photo of it gonna see if I can find it somewhere
